Do you know how long it takes to refresh all G@H servers these days? The 4 hour window is no longer right, I found.

Haven't got the foggiest idea, sorry.

I'm still considering whether or not I really want the hassle of replacing the BX/Katmai combo in my second box with the KT133A/Duron lying on the shelf.

Why not add it in it's own box? Or is the mobo the only thing you have lying around, not extra memory, videocard, monitor etc.?

If everything is working okay now, why look for the problems?

I'm trying to avoid extra boxes
But I really should switch it, the Katmai 500 only has 96 MB ram and the Duron will happily run 866 MHz and has a nice 512 MB stick of PC133.

Ofcourse your Katmai mobo can only take 256Mb DIMMs as maximum, right? Otherwise I would say put the memory in the Katmai. But if it doesn't recognize 512Mb DIMMs then you will have only 256Mb in there (or whatever the maxximum is the mobo can recognize per memory slot).

I found that 512Mb RAM does speed up G@H slightly And defragging your drives regularly

How long do you think you will take to move mobo's? I'll see if I can speed up then, so you can bash me again by the time you come back

Shouldn't take that long to switch the parts and reinstall, few hours maybe, getting around to it though ....
(it took me 3 weeks to get my Athlon 1200 working because the Katmai was ... )

Why not take a weekend off UT and change mobo's then? Or in the worst part, wait another 3 weeks and you have saved enough for a new box
