<blockquote><i>Today we finished adding our Network Appliance filer as a mirror to the online science database. Thus far the performance seems fine. On the assumption that it remains fine, we will soon be running the DB from the NetApp box only. In addition to the online science DB, we are currently running the offline master science DB on the filer as well as using it for queueing workunits for distribution and as storage for the SERENDIP project. In the next couple of months we will be giving the filer yet another task - we will be streaming raw tapes onto it and running the splitters from disk rather than tape, thus insuring that the splitters are never data starved. At that point, we will have pretty much consumed the 3TB on the filer! We are all quite impressed with this box as well as the support that we have gotten from NetApp. Our system administration promises to become much simpler. Thanks guys! </i></blockquote>
