    Distributed Folding client rox

    Gents,

When the weekend commences I should have about 1.4GHz 64bit and 2.4GHz 32bit CPU processing Distributed Folding.

I am really happy about this client. Across all platforms it seems smooth and reliable - who said stick with Genome?

    Regards,

Yes I also think this is one of the best clients that I have seen, but only time will tell!
According to the latest official figures, 43% of all statistics are totally worthless...

I discovered a little problem in combination with the United Devices client.

With g@h at priority "below normal" & United Devices at "low"-priority g@h consumes about 95% of the cpu time.

Now, with Distributed Folding set to "below normal" and UD at "low"-priority there is a tough challenge between the two - and UD collects more than 65% of the cpu cycles, even at lower priority. strange.

          I'm using Win2k.

          Anybody else experiencing that?

Well, UD is always running at thread-priority 1 if you're not changing the base-priority to real-time. You can change the thread-priority also, but you can't use task manager to do this. Since the priority is re-setting after every wu, there isn't any effective way to change the priority of UD.

For DF, is you using Task Manager to change the priority?
Skimming the documentation for DF, the pritority-setting is part of the client.
RTFM for how to do it.

                hmmm

                Still a few bugs around

My original User id didn't work. I couldn't submit results to it.

It got deleted today and I had to start again. But the new ID is working fine. Now I have about 3 computers (approx fold rate of 100000 structures a day) on it.

As for the client. Yes, it is one of the better ones and it draws pretty ascii pictures
