  • Distributed Folding GUI (v0.1 Beta)

I have the initial beta release of the Distributed Folding GUI ready for people who want to try it out. This initial release is more of a monitoring/benchmarking program and I will be adding start/stop code in the future. When the program is more complete I will also be releasing the source code for it (C++).

To get this working you need Windows, unzip the files into your distributed folding directory and run the dfGUI.exe file. In order for you to get results your client needs to be running.

Any bug reports/feedback would be appreciated, my e-mail address is in the distribution. I have tested it on Win2000 but the others should work as well.

I am also looking for suggestions for naming the program, "Distributed Folding GUI" is just a temp name (not sure how Howard et al. feels about that) so if people want to post suggestions for a cool name let me know and I will pick the one I like best.

    Jeff.

      V0.4 available:

V 0.3 fixed Made Refresh Rate an editable input box
dfGUI now saves settings in dfGUI.ini on exit and loads them on start
Added timer to keep track of total dfGUI running time, timer can also be reset by user to use as a general timer
Client now supports JWhy's hide.exe program to hide DF client

v 0.4 fixes: Re-wrote entire DF client starting procedure so dfGUI no longer supports hide.exe but instead supports runh.exe which is distributed with dfGUI
Start will now use foldit.bat with user's custom settings so that autoupdate works automatically
Added ability to auto-start client on GUI load
Added Upload button to upload completed structures with one button push.
Added ability to set how often progress.txt file is updated (in # of structures)
Changed tray icons to be an origami paper bird (taken from DF logo)

Added option to start dfGUI in the system tray so it will load "minimized" and not show up in the system tray
Added OS/CPU info to benchmark section which gets pulled out of the Registry
Added "Write Bench Info" button to output your current benchmark information to a file "benchmark.txt" to send/post for others. Special thanks to Dyyryath for helping me with this.
        Fixed several minor bugs
Added support to detect CPU speed on Win98 machines thanks to help from Bruce Blair.
Fixed benchmark bug showing negative values if DF client was restarted without dfGUI noticing (ie: it did not refresh while cient was stopped) thanks to Bugergold for first reporting this.
Added ability to add distinguishing text in Title Bar and tray in case multiple copies of dfGUI are running on the same machine.
Fixed a Win98 issue that stopped dfGUI from loading if it couldn't find the CPU speed. No need to upgrade from v0.6 unless you are having problems.

        Now up to v0.61
