  • Help! Bring me up to date

Hey folks can someone bring me up to date on the genome front? What's happened? Sorry haven't paid much attention to all this lately, my machines are all running the genome client still from months back.

Your up early for a saturday ant, your being worked too hard!

Some of us have jumped ship to distrubuted folding, I personally have had enough of genome and wanted to try another project, this seems to have the right credentials. For me the client setup is easier than genome so I can get more machines working in a shorter period of time for 'science'. Even though seti have been emailing me lately saying I should restart their project I think that DF will have more benefits than finding ET.

Everything I say is true apart from that which is not

The Distributed Folding project is really nice. FOr 9X machines, the screensaver is best, but the text client is best for 2K/XP. You can set it up as a low priority service. Someone else will have to speak for the other supported operating systems. As a team we are doing very well at 40th place and rising fast.

      Edit:
We could really use the help though if you decide to come into the fold (pun intended). Sun Microsystems just blew past us.

Anyone tried the distributed folding Linux client? I get a segmentation fault when I try to run it under Mandrake 8.2.

Scratch that it suddenly started working after I tried it as root.

                Hell that was quick

I've thorwn an Athlon 1.4 with the Linux client and an Athlon 1.0 with the 2000 client into the mix.

I've set up my workstation (a P3 1GHz) with it under a different user (Agent32) since I would rather like to see how my two machines compare! We'll have MURC up the top of the list in no time

I shall try and convince my flatmate to add his Athlon 1.33 into the fray as well

I will add the remaining eight computers, 6 1.2ghz celerons and 2 1.0 ghz celerons, on Monday. They might only be on for an average of 50 hours a week, but they should nearly triple my current production.

                    Edit:
Agent31, your Agent32 machine does not seem to be producing. The Agent 31 machine has produced 15000+ folds already.

                    Edit2:
Are both using the same email address with different codes?

Agent32 will start folding today, my machine at home has folded 60,000+ overnight but I didn't leave my diallup connection on, I'll upload them tonight (GMT +10, for anyone who doesn't know where Sydney is )

here's a tip for the brainless like myself, disable the HDD power-down in the powersaving panel of windows before you walk away from you computer, assuming you want it to keep processing while you're away!

                            duh!

Edit: how the feck do I get a little picture next to my name?? it's not so much that I want one, I'm just buggered if i could see how to do it! lol

Really? Must be only some machines. Mine has been producing with those turned on. Don't ya just love the inconsistencies of Windows.
