  • Cheating at Seti (again)

I first heard of this ages ago, before I started running Seti on my systems, so didnt take any notice.

Looks like allegations of cheating have raised their ugly heads again. Is this why Seti@MURC seems to have so few active users? I've gone from 700th place to 400th place inside a week!

FWIW, theres a petition to Seti to sort the cheats out at :
    Athlon XP-64/3200, 1gb PC3200, 512mb Radeon X1950Pro AGP, Dell 2005fwp, Logitech G5, IBM model M.

      Not new.
It's just the same old techniques that cannot be checked against due to the large amount of data.

        Cheating Update

Finally the admins from SETI@home have started to do something about the cheater accounts. Rickman, leader of SETI@Netherlands, got this email from Dr. David P. Anderson, Project Director :

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
It's taken us a while to get around to it,
but we'll deal with these guys.
The first one is definitely a cheater - out of 600K
results there were only 10K unique workunits.
        We zeroed out his account.
