Structure database was reset
Due to unforseen circumstances we have had to clear the structure database and reset the protein. This has no negative effect on your total points, these have been kept intact. If you are receiving error 910, try removing filelist.txt and start fresh.

Try http://www.climateprediction.net/ - matroxusers is 46th at present... although with a BOINC client (supposedly) on the way you may want to wait.

From a post 5. April it looks like CPDN most likely will start at 0 again then the BOINC-client is released...
Seti@home is most stable, but these also will start at 0 then BOINC is released.

I like the stable part. I'm still in the top 25, for MURC too !! But we'll all strat over soon, hummmm!

910 error resolved
We have resolved the issue that was resulting in 910 errors for a large number of folders. You will have to complete the current run of 250 gens if you are presently receiving a 910 error but after this you will not receive them anymore. If you have nothing buffered, you can just delete filelist.txt to force it to start over at gen. 0 without wasting time on getting to gen 250.
Thus although it had a few hiccups, we believe the ticketing system is now fully functional and behaving as it was originally engineered. For those of you who have been patient and stuck around while we resolve this, we thank you for your confidence in our abilities.
From this point on then, other than as stated above, you should never receive a 910 error again. The only exception is if you upload duplicate data, but in this case you will stop getting 910 once the data you upload is not duplicate again. E.g. if you upload get 3, 4, 5 then delete your ticket before 5 is validated, you will upload 5 again, then 6,7, etc. In this case you will get a 910 error when you upload gen 5 the second time, because it indeed cannot find the previous generation (gen 4) which has already been replaced by gen 5 as the latest gen.

Unusual numbers of buffered generations
You may have noticed unusually large numbers of buffered generations on your machines, even when running online. Please note that the bottleneck is on the server side, and is related to the new ticketing system. We are currently working on resolving it. The buffered files are not an error, and will get sent to the server correctly in due time. Thank you for your patience.

New client packages available
Please note that new executables (except Solaris 32bit and Irix 32bit) are available on the downloads page. They feature a fix for the SIG11 error which was appearing on UNIX systems running the client with -qt. They also include inmproved communication times with the server during upload.

Network troubles (again)
The hospital has been experiencing network problems again. As a result, you may be unable to access the folding servers. It may not be fixed until next Tuesday (Monday is a holiday here). You should nevertheless be able to keep folding with no troubles, and when the servers are accessible again, your uploads should come though trouble-free.

Packages with new features are available on the download page.
Features include argument to specify number of ticket receipt checks, more robust behaviour when running with -ut, and some small bug fixes. For complete details, check whatsnew.txt in the new packages.

Network troubles
The hospital has been experiencing network problems as of 4PM EST today. As a result, you may be unable to access the folding servers. The matter is being investigated and will be fixed as soon as the problem can be determined.

Sig 11 with -qt fixed for 32-bit Irix and Solaris
New binaries for Irix 32-bit and Solaris 32-bit have been posted on the Download page. These address the problem of the Sig 11 crash that was occuring when running in quiet mode.

The network problems the hospital was experiencing have been resolved as of this morning. You should have no problem logging in or uploading results. Please be patient and allow ample time for all your results to be uploaded if you have buffered a large number of generations.

Tech support temporarily unavailable and next update Wed

Today we begin work on our fourth CASP target, T0213. Yet again, little is known about this protein or what it does, other than that it is from E. Coli, making it a difficult target.

Bioinformatics Training Course Material Now Publicly Available

The Canadian Genetic Diseases Network (CGDN) announced today that the course material for their popular Canadian Bioinformatics Workshops (CBW) series is now hosted live on the bioinformatics.ca website. The material has been used since 1999 to train hundreds of scientists and the majority of Blueprint staff. The instructors and faculty of the CBW series are all supportive of making the material freely available and hope it will be used as a tool to train more people in bioinformatics worldwide. This material has been developed with the aid of many Blueprint staff members over the years including Christopher W.V. Hogue, Katerina Michalickova, Howard Feldman, Gary Bader, Michel Dumontier, Doron Betel, John Salama, Marc Dumontier, Ian Donaldson and Brenda Muskat.

Protein updates for the duration of CASP
Just a reminder to all our users that during CASP season, protein updates will be released on a weekly basis, every Tuesday around 10:30 am EST, unless a different date is posted in the news and on the forum.

906 errors resolved
Some of you may have been getting 906 errors when trying to upload the previous protein. This issue has been resolved during yesterday's update, so there should be no more problems.

The new CASP target released today can be found here. As this target has fewer residues, try not to buffer very large result sets, in order to avoid a heavy server load. Note that updates will occur every Tuesday around 10:30 am EST, unless stated otherwise in the news.

Short outage over the weekend
There was an air-conditioning failure over at the hospital on Saturday afternoon which caused the Distributed Folding webnodes and the database to be down for approximately 3-4 hours. The ticketing system had taken care of buffering any uploads, and there is currently no ticket backlog. Please let us know if you encounter any glitches, as currently the system is back to normal. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
