  • Has anyone welcomed James_D already?

James_D, welocme in our team, good to have you with us as well. Don't let Maggi wind you up, his resources are simply, uhm, something. You'll catch up with me in no time (I would hope).

OMFG! He just did 10 trickles today already! That took me 2 weeks!

We're on our way to top 100, won't be long.

And so at my heels he nips... Surely someone can overtake him before he gets me?

          Well done Maggi.

Or if you can give that machine access to the internet at the start and end of the simulation it should be possible on dialup even - not sure. Should have some info somewhere on the http://www.climateprediction.net/ website or in the forums there.
I posted it in the forums:

            Apparently, it can be done...
I'll probabely try it next weekend or so (but I doubt I'll have my home computer crunching a lot: the noise, the heat, the power it uses... ).

Umfriend got me into this, I wonder how he'll feel when (if) I overtake him...

            • My feelings would be mixed VJ, but then, YOU'LL NEVER MAKE IT!!!!111ONE!11 WMuuahhhahaha !ONE123

Course, I would not say such a thing to Maggi, he did my work of 2 weeks in, uhm, 4 hours? :desperate:

I do wonder though, do we have anyone here at MURC who could match and overtake Maggi? That'd be really sensational (And maggi already
              is, for a girl)

VJ, good to have ya. I may have gotten us someone to run this on a dual PIII-450 as well. Just goes to show everyone, everything and every credit counts!

I wonder, do have to install a second boinc on my internet connected computer (one for local computations, one to transfer the data to/from my other one) ?

Or can I do both things with one boinc client? (and if so: how?)

                        • OK guys, as my PC crunches ever so slowly, I decided to do some myself.

I am assuming we will crucnch as we did over the past two days (so Maggi, you really need to keep this up can you?)

We rank #102 now. But if we look at how much has been added over the past two days, we rank #29 (!!!). The gap with #101 is actually quite big (5.6k) and it will take us 2 days to cover that, but when we do, we'll jump to #94 almost right away.

Yes, MURC will be in top 100 in less than 48 hours (9, 8, 7,...,top 100!).

On average, gaps to fill are getting bigger, so it will be a bit slower now.

On the other hand, we are still getting members. Hopefully, a dual PIII-450 will generate credits today at some point. J1NG, will you be able to add at some stage? Then there is Paddy, a long time member of our team, who may get his re-wiring job done this week (here is hoping) and should than trickle in as well.

As it is now, in 50 days we'll rank #50. I'd say the challenge is to get other MURCers to join and reach that in 21!
I'll be doing updates on the stats and forecasts weekly.

One last thing: some of you might like to know that in 48 hours, we'll have caught up with PC Format (Jorden's team). In 96 hours we'll be 11 spots ahead already :evil grin:

                          That'll show him, right Guru?
http://forums.murc.ws/showthread.php...530#post504530 It was *this* post that actually made me join MURC for CPDN at BOINC

edit: had the clacs all wrong darnit!

Now this sounds like a challenge...

GNEP: I just checked that thread, interesting to see that it does a new benchmark test. Is hyperthreading considered to be multiprocessor by the boinc client?

Maggi: How do you hide your computers? (I would prefer to do this also)

it's in the climateprediction.net preferences and it's labelled Should climateprediction.net show your computers on its web site?

btw, my throughput stems from five Dual Opterons (246) and three Dual MPs (1800+, 2000+ & 2400+)
