  • Something odd in the log file...

    Euhm, what went wrong here...?
    Code:

2004-11-16 13:03:39 [climateprediction.net] Project prefs: no separate prefs for work; using your defaults
It is computing now, but is it doing usefull computations? It has restarted this, but if this also fails: must I then reset the project, or should I not think of that now...?
(and more importantly: will it allow Umfriend to pass me? )

Possibly a problem with the trickle upload to the server. Like it says, wait and see if it happens repeatedly (like 3 or 4 times). If not, just carry on. If it does, take a look around the CPDN message board for similar experiences.

If for any reason the application misses the "hearbeat" from core client, it thinks the core have stopped and therefore exits. If the core isn't stopped, you get "exited with zero status but no result file", and the application is re-started from last checkpoint, 144 timesteps, so if it's not constantly happening it isn't a big problem.

Haven't seen a good explanation of the reasons for missing the heartbeat, but another cpu-intensive task or heavy disk-access or net-access can be a reason...

Like downloading 3 files (57 MB, 56 MB and 15 MB) at the same time...?

Ok, I think there is not much reason to worry then...

It didn't give me the same error, so it is crunching happily again...

No clue. Hope you can work it out though (I really do).

                  I posted in this thread:

Apparently other people have the same issues, but the fact that it happens does not necessarily mean it will remain a problem...

                  Let's just hope...
