This is what a P4-3.2 Prescott (1 MB Cahce, 800Mhz FSB) can do at 3.36Ghz:
    CPU #1: 2.7238 s/TS
    CPU #2: 2.7686 s/TS

That's about 5.8 trickles a day on a single CPU.

Saves on heating expenses as well, runs at some 62C.

I *think* that with running just one CPU, production might be as high as 4.6 a day or so. So in this case, the increase due to hyperthreading appeas to be some 30% only.

That would indicate that the BOINC benefits a lot from hyperthreading. A speed increase of 30% is close to the maximum theoretical gain with hyperthreading.

VJ, you really have got to get more processing power. I know you've got about 2500 credits to upload, but with this new PC, I'm really gonna win that free beer from GNEP

This was my first foray into SFF computers. I always wanted to have BIG cases, to place all the hard drives I never bought. I might jsut find my kids need a new one as well soon.

Yes, could well be... Ah well, it was fun while it lasted...

Same here. I still have a Pentium 166 in a full tower AT case (you know, the kind with 6+ 5.25" drive bays, ... but lousy cooling despite all that room. In it I have put up to 3 harddisks and 2 CD drives). Then a PII in an ATX midtower (a bit cramped now: 2 CDs, 1 harddisk) and then the dual Xeon in a Lian Li full tower. But there is is necessary for the cooling (2 10K harddisks, 2 DVD drives, 1 floppy, with plans of adding an additional harddisk (but I might be going for external Firewire 800).

Still waiting for VJ's monstrous upload that puts us in 1st

Dude, what planet do you live on? I'll've passed you before Jan 05 is over.

My "monstrous update" could bring me back in front of you, Sitflyer (why do I feel there is an h missing in that name?). It will surely be enough to be ahead of Umfriend for a short while.
                Gues y'all have to wait...

                Umfriend:
                according to this:

You need 23 days to move up at least one spot. Similarly, sitflyer need 5 days to move up at least one. So Jan 05 will be close...

Well, my challenge was a little unclear. still holds though - as neither VJ or Umf look like they are going to pass me today, let's just say that the first one who does gets the beer

'Twas gr8! A week in a cottage/small villa near Malmedy with family, FIL and his wife. 10th time in a row. Always great, but with the kids growing older a bit, it gets ever more relaxed.

Back to crunch-crush you and get a free beer next time I'm in London!

VJ - it can be Belgian beer if you like, as long as it's sold in London somewhere. And then I'll quite happily also drink it for you if you're never in London
