Upgrade to new driver software using w9x_530.exe

Hello,

I have a following question:

Recently (Nov 26th), I tried to upgrade the software of my Matrox Millennium G200
using w9X_530.exe (which I downloaded from the Matrox website).
I ran the program, which created a number of files in the mgafold folder.
After that, I ran the setup program.

The first thing that happended is that the setup reported that my old
software was not compatible with the new one, I had to deinstall the old
software first. So I used the deinstall option of the old software
to deinstall it. After that I installed the new (5.30) version.

When I checked (after reboot) the version number of the software modules
however, the version numbers were not all set to 5.30.

Basic question is: was the upgrade succesfull or not?

Hi Matt,

yes, your update was succesfull. Just look at your powerdesk number and the version number of g200icd.dll.

Thnaks for your answer Joachim. It was just a bit confusing having different release numbers.

Maybe it is a good idea if matrox releases new software to put information in the readme file stating the version number of all important driver files so you can check afterwards.

Hi MAtt,

did u follow properly the installation procedures (a bit annoying according to me) ?

use pd_unin.exe (see matrox web site utility to uninstall)
reboot and reinstall the standard VGA Win98 driver (640x480x256 !!!!)
launch the w9x_530.exe and so on.

It worked fine for me.
