  • Win2000 Power Management and G400

My apologies for cross posting, but I'm looking for input/thoughts a.s.a.p.

Yikes...I hope this isn't what I think it is. Under Win98, I experienced some not so fun times when certain Power Management features were enabled (specifically, using an OpenGL screen saver and enabling TURN OFF MONITOR would cause a GPF that I couldn't trace the problem to; as a test, at that time I set the graphics card to standard VGA and didn't get any problems - initial conclusion was driver related issues).
Another rainy day here in SoCal. Decided to try/test/check out the Power Management features of Win2000. Enabled TURN OFF MONITOR, then SYSTEM STANDBY and finally TURN OFF HARD DISKS.

The only way I could get the system to come back to life was to touch the power on button. When it did, sound wasn't working (had to reboot to get that).

I would rarely, if ever, use SYSTEM STANDBY or TURN OFF HARD DISKS, but given past experience/problems with the G400 and power management, my concern is that this might be a symptom/indication of possible future problems.

I know the drivers are still green, but it dea ja vu all over again.

    Hey there.

Turn off monitor does work good for me, i use it all the time, while running Open GL plugins for Winamp and other Open GL apps.

im running Win2k and 5.03 drivers.

tried Hibernation with 5.01, system froze during recovery from suspend.
haven't tried it with 5.03 tho.

Is system standby you're talking about Hibernation? otherwise i can't find any "normal" standby mode like in Win98...

Try to disable APM in W2k and in bios!
      Then Hibernatin works for me.
ofcourse you then will have to use the powerbutton to power of!
