  • My BrandNew G400Max & Glitches

    My system consists of;
    Abit BP6 w/dual 366 cellies @ 550 2.1v
    256Megs PC100 Ram
    20.4gb ATA66/7200 DiamondMax Plus
    Adaptec AHA-2940UW
    SBlive Value
    Yamaha 6/4/16 cdrw
    NEC DV-5500A DVD
    Memorex 48X CD-Rom

    Triple-Boot Win98SE, Win2000Pro, Mandrake-Linux 7.0.

    While in Windows 2000, and 98SE, I experience random freezes, also, at times, the task bar icons, including the Start button, go blank, and do not respond.
    This happens mostely in W2K, but ocasionally in W98SE also.
    The G400Max is brand new,
    Drivers;
    W98SE,v411.01.1250
    W2K vW2k503

    I also get random freezes in Internet Explorer 5.01 where the page I would have multiple (Browser) windows open to different sites and the one I would be on would stop responding, the taskbar would go blank, and if I move the pointer over it, it would turn into the double-arrows and not respond. I would use Alt+Tab to toggle through the other open windows and those would be fine, responding to mouse-clicks and all.
    Has me stumped why the Start button and everything else on the Taskbar would go blank.
    Have you ever heard of this?
    Still love my new G400Max, It ROCKS

    Thanx for any help

    For Win98-
    a) Switch to the Standard VGA drivers
    b) Uninstall the 4.11 drivers using the utillity from Matrox
    c) install 5.52 drivers (they usually work well for BX chipsets, if they don't work for you repeat above with 5.41 drivers)
