  • G400max, PD5.52 and BX board with SLOT1...failure?

    Hi,

I would like some tips with my system,

    PIII 450MHz
    ASUS P3B-F with BIOS rev. 1004 SLOT1
    WIN98 SE
    PD5.52
    DirectX7
    TurboGL130
    G400max

I've experienced some problems with Quake3 and TombRaiderIV, they just fail.
In quake3 after a white screen it falls back in windows with 680x480 resolution when i had 1280x960.
In TomRaider when i test the 3D setteings i get kicked to windows if i don't test them and just hit play i'm on windows again!

I also have other issues i wondering about:
    - is my G400max memory SDRAM or SGRAM?
    - can my board suport AGP 4x?
    - can my G400max suport AGP4x?

    well, that's all folks.

The ASUS P3b-F is a 2xAGP board as it uses the BX chipset. It does not do 4xAGP at all. The G400MAX uses SGRAM, not the slower SDRAM, usually they have 5ns SGRAM. There are some G400s that are 4xAGP capable but not all of them. They are compatible with 4xAGP slot voltage though. Note there have to be two slots on the AGP connector for 4xAGP slot compatibility. Never seen a G400 without them.

    Regards, Alegria

      Hi pol.,
I had the same problem with P3B-F and Quake III. The only way I got it working was uninstalling TurboGL and running the GL driver included in QIII CD. I tried different releases of TurboGL with more many releases of PD with only one result: failure!!!!
      Hope this will help You
