  • Hard to explain problem.

    Here we go,
I use SoundForge and Vegas Pro for recording my bands demo tapes onto the computer. Vegas pro is a multitrack application that allows me to import the recorded .wav file into Soundforge to add effects and tweak. When SoundForge opens and the .wav file is drawn into it's environment the graphics go all screwy and I have work without having accuracy as far as the spectral analysis is concerned. I am using a Max with the latest Powerdesk. Before I get asked all my devices are not sharing IRQ's and I have tried with the bus at standard 100MHZ and 124MHZ with PCI running at 31MHZ.

    PIII 650E at 805Mhz, G400Max, Asus P3B-F (ain't none better!), 384MB PC133 Memory, 2 Seagate 18GB Cheeeeetazzzz.
    PIII 600E at 800Mhz, Waiting for G800, til then Voodoo3 3000, Asus P3B-F at 133FSB (ain't none better!), 256MB PC133 Memory, 2 Seagate 18GB Cheeeeetazzzz.

A few things to try or dismiss:

Have you tried reinstalling the software? Have you installed the latest software updates? Why do you think it is a hardware problem? Does any other software misbehave? Is the MAX current with BIOS? What OS are you using? Is the AGP aperture at 256 MB? Have you tried setting the BIOS parameters to default, along with standard bus speed? What are your interupt assignments? Are there any leftover drivers from your previous video card? How about uninstalled hardware showing up in your system control panel? What kind of SCSI card are you using? Have you checked the seating of the video card, or the temperature of your cpu if you installed the heatsink? Is the cooling in your case adequate (at least one fan)? Is the fan on the MAX running? Have you reinstalled Windows, if that's your OS? Do you have a permanent swap file or a variable one? Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the video drivers? Is this problem a function of how large the file is, that is, do small files also cause you a problem, or just the large files? Have you tried any other audio file formats? Have you tried a different video card? What kind of other cards are installed in your system in addition to the MAX and the SCSI? Have you tried moving the cards around to different slots?
