It seems that I have two programs that refuse to have their position remembered. Specifically, WinDVD 2000 & ICQ 99b. I have Powerdesk set to automatically remember the window positions every second. I have even tried manually clicking "save". Still no go... any ideas?

Powerdesk & Window Positions

Both the InterVideo WinDVD control "window" and the and ICQ contact list "window" are actually dialog boxes in disguise; that is, they are of the reserved window class #32770.
As such, they may appear to be top-level application windows (ICQ even uses a sleazy "non-client painting" hack to create a fake minimize button in its contact list title bar) -- but trust me, they are not.
Unfortunately, PowerDesk looks only at top-level application windows when deciding which window positions it needs to save and restore. There is no workaround for this limitation.
Depending on the way PowerDesk is written, it may be feasible to add dialog box support to PowerDesk; however, this may have undesirable consequences. How would PowerDesk know which dialog box positions you want saved? Surely you don't want PowerDesk remembering the position of every dialog box you ever open! Perhaps a user-configurable list of special "windows", identifiable by their title bar.
It wouldn't hurt to put in a request to Matrox to add this feature, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
