Yea, I noticed that monitor too - I've got the little brother (VMPro450 19").

And, btw, can you do 2048x1536 resolution on that and at what refresh - can it do 85?

Thanks, Paul.

It will only go up to 75Hz at that resolution. With a 300MHz RAMDAC you can do only 70Hz, so I changed the bios to be able to use 75Hz.

Pace,

It's quite easy, actually:

[*]Use SetWindowLong() to add the WS_EX_LAYERED extended style to the desired window. Alternately, create the window yourself with that extended style already specified (via CreateWindowEx()).

[*]Use SetLayeredWindowAttributes() to set the opacity or transparency of the window.

[*]For faster and more efficient animation, or if per-pixel alpha is needed, use UpdateLayeredWindow() instead of SetLayeredWindowAttributes().
[/list=a]

As you can see, it's very simple. You can probably throw together a sample app that demonstrates window transparency attributes in about five minutes. See Layered Windows for more information.

Now I don't know if he wants me to post this, but Hunsow tucked away his method of changing the BIOS of the Matrox card real good

(i.e. you won't find a link on his homepage... and why not, Hunsow? And why did my connection reset? Stupid tmfweb maybe? )

Okay, I'll post the link. Maybe shortly. If Hunsow wants me to remove it I'll do so, sorry

The secret OC'ing of your G400

P.S: I OC'ed my G200 that way, without a problem !!

"Allright this is how I did it.
Download the bios_104.exe update available on the murc website, and extract it to a bootable DOS disk, with no autoexec.bat or config.sys on it. You might also find the required programs on the Matrox installation CD, in that case you can copy the contents of the directory on that disk."

How can I extract or copy the files to the disk since they're around 1.800 kbytes (won't fit).
Someone help

Only 1327k in my version, I guess they added windows junk, which you can delete. And now there is a 1.09 version, which is 1894k. Just delete files ending with 'win.***' and it should fit on a floppy.

Thanks.
it won't boot if I put only the files on it (invalid system disk.... and stuff like that), if I make it a system disk (sys A: ) and copy the files on it, it boots, but when I run "PROGBIOS -d >pins.txt" it only runs dos4gw (shows me the copyright, version... lines and goes back to A: after that)

Yes, and there should be a file called pins.txt on the disk.

Should I make one (blank one and put in on the disk before booting) ? because there's none there (it doesn't create it ither)

No, it should create one. The >pins.txt suffix causes the output to be saved in a file. That is why you don't see anything on the screen. You could try it without it and see if the output shows up on the screen.

PS Just in case: do not type the ""

Never mind, I guess I'll just stick to Matrox's tool and give up this bios programming urge of mine. I started to think at the concequences of a corrupted bios.
btw, I wasn't typing the ""

Thanks for your help Hunsow

EDIT: Never mind the above, I just found the pins.txt file. Can you tell me the settings for 150 clock, 200 memory ?

Interested on the value I have to type on lines 38-43 ?

You can only use MAX values if you can overclock completely stable at 119% or higher. Those values are of course 150 and 75.
You only need to change lines 38-43 if you need to go higher than a 2048x1536@70Hz resolution. A value of 90 would be 360MHz, the MAX value.
