  • W2K 5.03 and StarOffice 5.1

Star Office 5.1 no longer works with the 5.03 drivers. All went well after reverting back to the 5.01 beta drivers.

Seems the new drivers are suffering from some bugs that were just fixed in the new Win9x 5.52 drivers...

This STILL seems to be broken, even with the latest 5.06 drivers. Anyone found a workaround?

I got it working under w2k. The old StarOffice Config trick worked again :-)

Go to your \Office51\config dir and delete "soffice.cfg". Now start StarOffice and voila, it works!

If it doesn't, try again in a different resolution (16bit or 32bit color depth).

Btw: Open the StarOffice "About" dialog, hold the Control key and press "SDT". Wait a moment and my name should come up :-)

      Bye,
      Olaf

PS: I'm using PowerDesk 5.04 in 1280*1024 TrueColor.

Unfortunately that trick doesn't work for me -- I don't have a soffice.cfg file to delete! I just installed the software, and I'm guessing that file would be generated automatically the first time the program has been successful run? Since it has yet to successful run... no soffice.cfg.

Guess I'll have to wait for Star Office 5.2, or perhaps a newer version of the G400 drivers.

Do you have a dual boot drive with w2k and Win98 installed?
Try to install StarOffice from Win98, switch to w2k and start the StarOffice setup with "Repair Installation". Maybe that'll do the trick...

I have a dual boot setup with W2K and Linux, but no Win98. Oh well. Thanks for the help.

I've just tried the new Matrox w2k beta drivers (PD 5.10) and it seems to work now.

Yes, it does indeed seem to work fine with StarOffice 5.2 (obtained on CD at JavaOne) and the 5.10 G400 drivers.
