  • Screaming Good Drivers

I think this is the right forum to post this........
I have a vanilla 32 meg G400 with an SS7 Epox MVP3G-M board with a K6II 400, 128 megs of ram. With considerable effort (2 days) I got this to work with my system, and everything seems to be working well. I'm running Powerdesk 5.21 right now - is there any advantage to upgrading to a newer version of Powerdesk?
    Thanks a Million

    Charles

    Charles,

There are advantages to running newer drivers, for instance faster gameplay, bug fixes and better compatibility. PD6.01 is the best driver (so far) for Via chipsets, and it runs faster than old systems. Basically 3D is where the major improvements have gone in to, so upgrade if you want to. I believe its worth it.

      How reliable is PD6?

I have been burnt before by dodgy drivers that won't install and create an hours worth of hassle putting things right again (I used to own a G200)

I would like to use the lates drivers but not at this price!

At present I use 5.41. Which driver best combines speed with reliability?

        Charles,

I haven't noticed any problems with 6.01.010 not 6.01.015, and install is easy, never had a problem installing using the proper uninstall procedue. Like I said stability is a bit better with Via chipsets (search the forums for this) and I find it runs great. Speed is also either the same or faster, not much improvement (but look at what I'm using).
