Listen, you guys-- the next person who disses the Ewoks around here is TOAST!!!
And nobody better say anything about the "girl factor"....
I know that they were kinda shoehorned in and all... and not very well, at that.
But in a movie where poor Carrie Fisher looked drawn and old, all kind of story elements set up in the first two movies were being hastily reworked to fit changes in the concept, and everyone walked around staring off into the middle distance saying "I can feel it....", the Ewoks were a fairly creditable effort to display the ravages of the civil war on people.
You know, just people living their lives.
So they were cute teddy-bear people.
But at least they displayed sadness when their loved ones were killed in the unexpected battle, were courageous and innovative in the face of overwhelming odds, and helpful and accepting of those who brought the fight into their (formerly) peaceful forest.
Which in many ways is more ordinary humanity than the larger-than-life heroes ever showed.
So knock it off, 'k?
...oh, and thanks, LAMFDTK-- you confirmed my point on an "argument" I had with someone at work... it doesn't much matter to anyone but me (it's not like the other party will ever read this thread), but I feel better, anyway...!

Holly, who has seen about 10 minutes of TPM (the part with the animatronic pod race master with the horrific French {French????} accent), and is interested to see how much worse it can get...
