I'm over here on the west coast in Northern California(Bay Area). I actually live in a town called Livermore. What a screwed up name for a town. I think your picture idea would have caught on more if you had actually started it off with your picture Although there are some real cuties in there already

Ees, is it 'tur-shell-een"? or how about 'tursk-hell-een"?

Born in Jamaica, Queens, USA currently living in Brooklyn, NY, USA, engaged (in both the sense of "promised in marriage" and the sense of "currently doing") in moving to Oosterhout, The Netherlands, Europe... yes, the same Oosterhout that Jorden lives in, since he's the one I'm engaged with/to...

Now for those of you confused about my location (we've had such a discussion here before)... in my usual manner of talking too much, I'll explain it.

The USA is composed of 50 states, as you know. New York State is one of them, on the Atlantic Ocean side (Eastern Seaboard).

New York City, one of the cites in New York State, is composed of five boroughs:
• Manhattan (the famous island, the business center and all those buildings you see pictures of are located)
• Brooklyn, which used to be a city in its own right... that's how you hear people bemoaning the loss of the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team; guess they went west (the Dodgers are from Los Angeles, California, now) instead of becoming the New York City Dodgers or some such... Brooklyn is on (but not all of) Long Island, one of the other two habitable islands in NYC.
• Queens, also on Long Island (the part of Long Island that is neither Brooklyn nor Queens is simply called "Long Island" and is not part of NYC, but are towns and villages of NY State-- the island really is long, that's why it's called so ). In Queens, unlike most other parts of the city, most neighborhoods address mail based on the neighborhood name, rather than the borough or city name... (our address format is house number, street name, city, state, zip code) so people in the neighborhood of Jamaica in Queens usually address themselves as "Jamaica, NY", rather than "Queens, NY", similar to the neighborhoods of Astoria, Flushing, or Kew Gardens. If an address is listed as "NY, NY" it is understood to be a Manhattan address.... and people from Brooklyn almost always put, "Brooklyn, NY" because Brooklyn is so incredibly cool .
• The Bronx: this is the only borough of NYC that is not on an island... it's part of the tip of the mainland that extends very close to Upper Manhattan... but Manhattan and Long Island are so close together, and so close to the "mainland", that no one really thinks of it as "the mainland" the way some of you from other places do.
• Staten Island: the last island, and kinda far out compared to the others, they feel left out and abused and keep threatening to secede from NYC... well, wouldn't you, if that's where the NYC Department of Sanitation decided to put their biggest garbage dump? Hey, at least they have a great view of the Statue of Liberty, and they get a ferry (the cleverly-named Staten Island ferry, which I can see coming into port in Manhattan from my terrace in Brooklyn).

Bet you'll all be glad when I get to Holland, and there's less to explain, huh?
