Bah, StarGate, I picked it up for around $5, the version I have here is requires you to flip the damn thing over halfway through, considering it's only 122mins long it just doesn't make sense.

I know what Kubrick wanted. I don't care what he wanted. He's sleeping with the fish. I want widescreen!

          Himself:

That version of Stargate SUCKS. Get the special edition. In addition to an extra half-hour of footage, it is dual-layer and has all kinds of neat-o menus and extras.

Holly, I've grown far too polite to slam Jason around his ears over such an old subject like that. I've also grown in confidence that I was asked properly , and that I did ask properly outside earshot of the rest of the People of MURC

ANIME FANS! In case you do not know, there is a website called...drum roll please...Anime on DVD that gives a crap load of info on upcoming anime titles on DVD and reviews on those already out.

              Gurm,

Pioneer bought the rights to Akira and are going to re-release it next year on DVD. Rumor has it that they are doing the full uncut version and are completely redoing the subs and dubs to more match the Japanese version. They are also digitally remastering the music/audio track in THX (or some surround format) and are rumored to do an anamorphic transfer from the original reel. Pioneer takes their anime very seriously, and I love them for it! A must buy for next year!

                    Gurm,

I'll be sure to look for it next time I'm hunting for DVDs. Have a list of titles I'd like, that Blade Runner Director's cut for one.

Doesn't Rutger Hauer kill himself at the ending of the normal Blade Runner?

The end with Rutger Hauer is the same with both versions. The difference, if I remember correctly, is the voice-over discloses that Sean Young has no artificially shortened life span and they live happily ever after (that is until Harrison Ford tells her she cooks like a Nexus 2).

Correct. And there is no "hinting" that perhaps Deckerd is also a replicant...

As for T2... where is T1? No Terminator 1 on DVD makes Gurm an unhappy boy!

P.S. Boomsticks are NOT PAINTBALL GUNS. My Boomstick is a Remington double-barrel 12-gauge with cobalt blue steel, a walnut stock, and a hair trigger. It retails for about $129.99 at S-Mart. That's right... Shop Smart. Shop S-MART.

Also, on the topic of movies that transitioned to DVD very well...

Labyrinth is EXCELLENT on DVD. Also Army of Darkness... did I mention that one already?

And Galaxy Quest was a cool DVD with nifty little features.

I don't get it. I have T1 on DVD. Did the stop making it? Here's a site.

Gurm - or are you in a place that less accessible to purchasing these things?

Oh, I get it, it is a Dolby mono thing. Right?
