Uh-oh. It appears Ami has dressed, put the cast iron squirrel back in the utility drawer, and gone to nVidia heaven with a bigass 64MB GeForce2. Vroom.

Now I'm not a turncoat. But i'm not suffering for a cause either.

[I already suffered enough with my Via, and buying an Athlon 900 TWO DAYS before their price dropped by $200 and the Thunderbird was announced. I deserve to be pleased by this man named Hercules! er... um. heh ]

The G400 is a perfectly fine TNT2/Voodoo3/G400 generation card... As soon as Matrox decides to "getup on the downstroke" and install a size ten combat boot in Nvidia's patoot, (IF they do) , I'll schluck that one inna the Athlon.

I still use the G400 mightily though. Besides. I felt I had to keep it online in order to retain my membership here. And I really do like dualhead.

The only question I have, is if Matrox is getting out of the 3d card realm, what on earth do they have to improve on, then?

I don't know about you but Excel and Word are perfectly playable at 75fps - though I admit that bump mapped spreadsheets would get a second look at the office. o_O

            Hercules? wow...

Sorry you missed the boat by $200.-, Ami, but you never know in the business of computers.
If you waited 2 days, maybe 3 days after that the prices would've dropped again

Wait for the Fusion Plus G800 and don't buy it before the G850 or G900 is about to surface

EMBM'ed spreadsheets, huh? I'd love to see those !!! Btw, my Word plays best at 100hz, 120fps

You could have called. We knew about this stuff before AMD did.

Your Amiga and C64 are missing from the list, Paul... makes a total of 7

                  Wow, welcome back, Ami!

Lately, I've been the backslider here.

BTW, I just built an Athlon system at work, but used a MSI K7Pro (AMD Chipsets all the way, bay bay!)

It's "ahem" perfectly stable in every way.. no setup problems whatsoever. But then again, I used a G400 in it!

                  ------------------
                  Kind Regards,
