I think I lapped my CPU (celeron 366) a bit too far:
about a week ago, a friend of mine asked me to come over to his house and bring along my cpu-lapping equipment, since he bought 2 golden-orbs, and wanted to lap both his Celeron 366s, so that they would run stable at 550MHz. However, I ended up lapping my own cpu, since he was too busy backing up stuff on his pc, and with a previous lapping-session my CPU did not end up prefectly flat.
So I lapped a bit of, _again_, and didn't even bother to try at 550MHz, since previously it would crash after some time at 550MHz (2.1v). Higher voltage didn't work back then, so I didn't try it.
Couple of days ago I started to experience very odd problems: when starting up Win2k, my pc shut off itself, just before showing the win2k login-screen. This morning I tried to boot 8 times, and every single time it shut off itself.
I tried some things, and finally thought that it could have been the lapping (lapping too much). So I tried to boot at 550MHz, and it booted into win2k! I've been running the pc fine without lockups for the last 7 hours straight (@2.1v core voltage)
hmm... now I have a Celeron 550 that doesn't want to run at 366 I guess? (perhaps it does if I set the voltage to 1.9 or 1.8v ;-)
