I'm going to take a wild guess on the origins of "bollocks." I believe bollock is a corruption of bullock.

A bullock is a young bull or a castrated bull. (Ouch! What a rotten thing to do.) So I believe the word is "testicular" in origin.

I also believe it is a synonym for for nonsense, bunk, bulls**t, horsesh**t, crap, baloney, etc.

I think what's changed is that some of the anti-Matrox/pro-NVIDIA and ATI sentiment has come from some regulars who have recently converted. Personally, I think they should know better AND DO. This leads me to suspect they're baiting the diehards, and if people just let those threads die, then it would stop. A simple "bite me" might do the trick as well.

      No arguments. Just "bite me."

Sorry paulcs, but I consider myself a regular here (maybe not as regular as some of you are, but.. ), and I bought a GTS. At the time I didn't consider it defecting (still don't, hehe), even after I posted my general observations (obtained with my faithful G400 sitting in the next case to the right, where it still resides, and WILL after the Next Matrox Big Gun replaces the GTS in this one). I also didn't attempt to bait anyone out, and still refuse to do that- all my posts tend to run to the objective and not subjective sides, as I kinda like this nasty buncha a--holes in these forums, and also (usually with reason, hehe) respect your mutual opinions.

That said, I also think Jake made a very valid point about the general feeling in the forums lately. I've been very hesitant to join in on some threads because I don't feel like participating in that sort of behavior (unless it's really warranted, which it has been in a few cases ).

Hopefully once we all can get our next fix of the M drug, the forums'll return completely to normal.

And no, don't bite me! ..

It was not my intention to point any fingers, nor did I suggest that any NVIDIA user on these forums leave. I was just suggesting a strategy for some of the more provocative posts I've seen.

And we used to be worse. I've seen former Matrox users, who left in a barrage of flames, hunted down on other forums when they had issues with the boards they so gleefully left Matrox for. We're much nicer than we used to be.

I still think that ignoring flamebait or dismissing it quickly with a "bite me" is better than long arguments that convince only the convinced, seem to go nowhere, and bring about only bad feelings.

I have nothing against NVIDIA or NVIDIA products. I have plenty of NVIDIA boards, and I don't have a lot of complaints. I just think some of the "other board avocacy" we've seen recently crosses the line and is intentionally provocative.

I always resist posting in flaming threads. As the sign says, "Don't feed the animals".

                        Oh, paulcs, you ain't kiddin'!!!!

ManojM. DJRoberts. And of course, the hairy insane meatball whose name will not dirty my mouth (I use that mouth to kiss my half-husband with, after all! Not to mention my cat ). And those are just some of the ones I was around for... if Lukey is still lurking, he probably knows more (Hi, Lukey!!! Nice to see you!!! )

What's funny, though, is that we wasted all that firebreath fighting about--- wasn't it the DooDoo 3000 and the TNT2? Had we but known that GeFarce the Giant Killer was in the future, maybe we would have done things differently....

                        I do think that

people who have competetor's cards as well as a Matrox card; and
people who earned their stripes on the MURC even though they no longer have their Matrox card
should be made welcome. We'll just have to adjust to the new character of the MURC, and deal with people comparing their GX00 to their GeForce. It doesn't make me all warm and fuzzy, exactly, but we gotta live in the world as it is.

But the first one who starts waxing poetic about frame rates is going to get split in more places than the Lord did it....

Hey, Lukey--- Maggi's around, just not so often, Kruzin, you might have noticed, is the Moderator of the Matrox Hardware and Matrox Gaming forums, Pauly said hi back as you see , and I'll tell Jorden you said hello when he gets home from work, 'k )?

                            Jake I blame the keyboard.
At the moment I am bloody pissed off but thats another story.
As for poor spelling and grammer. Well grammer is a invention and spelling, well old shakysphere couldn't spell his own name and look how famous he is.
Now keeping in with this thread "Arse"

                              Pit,

I does not REALLY matter to me whether you can spell or not, or you just can't be bothered to check your grammar.

                              I be messin' wit ya!

                              I won't bite you anymore.

Since you brought up "bollocks" and someone was kind enough to explain that it is and old word for a castrated bull, I thought the PIT -> bull (The dog) association was fitting (and fun). Didn't you?

                              Regards,

                              Jake
