What in tarnation......?
....is going on around here?
Since a number of you are talking <u>about</u> me, I'm taking the floor in my usual long-winded fashion.

First, to my *cough* "supporters" *cough*.....
Kaj....I wish I could say different, but you did wrong.
Why?
Because nobody asked <font size=4><u>me</u></font> if I <u>WANT</u> to "return" as mod of TSB!!!!! (Assuming, naturally that it was even possible, which in fact it is not. Or shall we then say, "Hey, I liked the previous President/King/Queen/Ayatollah better than this one, just chuck him/her and call the old one back"? I think not
.)
So putting up a petition requesting me to return to a position that I voluntarily gave up can't be helpful to anyone. Same goes for you who signed "yes".
I'm glad that you appreciated my tenure, but <font size=5>IT IS OVER</font>. And I love you guys, but I <u>do not like</u> being told what I am to do when I have other ideas.
So chill, OK?

And you're helping <u>how</u>, exactly...? If that thread is now three-quarters of the way to all-out war, it's because you started throwing punches with words like "blockhead"...which-- by the way-- would definitely constitute a personal attack of the kind that the moderator specifically forbade.
So you might want to try 'helping' him by following his one rule. After all, the whole point of the Mod's boots/guns/big bloody spiked club is supposed to be that the members don't have to beat each other bloody on his or her behalf. I would think he can "defend" himself, if he "needs" "defending".
Just an idea.

Gee, SwAmPy, if you read that carefully, it would almost sound like you like(d) me... but I guess it was worth it to get in a free dig at my husband, huh?
But naturally you're wrong (as usual). Jord certainly let me use his PC (mine is working now)... but Holland is unlike the US in terms of its phone system. In NYC I paid a flat rate for a local call to my ISP no matter how long I was online. In Holland, local calls are charged by the minute. I can no longer be online at anytime, for the amount of time that a forum like this requires... and with hot threads like Kaj's running, the mod needs to <u>be there</u>. I couldn't, so I handed off to someone who could.
Simple, huh?

You are the Moderator of The Soap Box, and no petition is going to change that unless you want to give it up, or unless Ant makes a new decision. So at the very least, you could move the thread to Site Feedback (where it belongs, actually), or tell these people to email Ant if they're so flipped out and lock the thread.[*] The point of the thread is moot. Nobody has asked me if I want the job back, but for the record the answer is NO. You don't quit a gig thinking that you can just turn around and change your mind five minutes later. I knew there was no going back, and that's why I thought about it for a week before I did it. So that's reason #2 to lock the damn thing (I don't go for deletion, just so everyone has a chance to know what's going on, but that's your choice. You see how the membership responds to deleted threads, though, so.....)[*] A thread that was supposedly well-intentioned (though poorly phrased, I admit) is fast becoming a slug-fest. It is your job to put a stop to it; that's why the forum has a moderator. And you're it. So do so, already![/list=a]
People, this is ridiculous. I know I said we were bored with nothing to look at but the G450, but.... go watch the Olympics or something! Please. It just makes us all look like a bunch of jerks.

You know what? I thought I was being nice by starting a suggestion thread, and even asking nicely for helpful comments, but apparently blockheads like you can't get it through your skull that you aren't helping things by just going off on somebody.
