    sorry..

Then I change my statement to that "(ice-)Hockey is a cool North American-thingie".

However, as you say, it also is very populair in Scandinavia/Russia... that makes it "It is a very cool sport" wherever played... (however I can't imagine what a south-african team would play like).

I really, really don't understand why skating is more populair than (ice-)hockey... skating is _so_ boring to watch...

You said it dZeus, figure skating is about as exciting as watching paint dry. Hockey is one of the best spectator sports around.

I don't understand why other variations don't catch on, like field hockey (very competitive and violent ), and Lacrosse (also very competitive, but much more violent ) I went to almost all of our Lacrosse team's games last year. What a great sport!

My younger brother plays for the Dutch National Youth field hockey-team (while he doesn't even has the Dutch nationality ). I myself am not that fond of field-hockey...

Also, I forgot to tell in my earlier post:

This always struck me as odd:
In Europe, field hockey is a largely a men's sport. In the US, it's almost exclusively a girl's sport.

what about soccer (which we call football)?

That is a men sport almost in any country except in the USA and Canada....

Soccer is both a men's and women's sport here. It's just that on their respective international scales, our women are much better than our men.

                      Hey Hunsow,

Quite a few years back the local PBS station use to air an episode every Saturday night. I have some of them still on tape. I have also read quite a few of the books. The English may not have a lot on spacial effects but they do put a hell of alot into the storyline.

I'm just hoping one day that they will put them out on DVD.

The reason that Canada is so good at hocket is because they have in abundance the natural resource most imporant for playing the sport...

I love Red Dwarf. What a great show. Have any of you seen the outtake where they are at this Sci-Fi convention and they are on stage answerign questions about the show? There's this little girl of about 9 I would geuss who asks Lister what "smeg" means... It's pretty funny, I think its from outtakes 2.
