I'm jealous! A friend of mine, and I trade music a lot (he has a T1). I can get stuff from him REALLY fast, but sending a song his direction takes forever!

So, let's see who can download this file the fastest. Then tell us what ya got!

SDSL rocks! Unfortunately, the price doesn't

750K? Isn't that 7mbps? I've heard of 2 or 3mbps on cable, but 7?? Well, this site was not any different from any other large site, I get ~120K/sec from many places, as long as they are well connected.

Anyway, most people seem to have slow upload on Napster, and I rarely hit my ~120K/sec max on downloads. I have uploaded to others at 120K/sec.

Are you all comparing speeds from the link to the ftp.download.com one? I get a whopping 7.27 kb/sec on a 2mbps line here at work!! Something's up between me an download.com.... as to msdownload.microsoft.com, I reach 200 kb/sec

According to a traceroute, ftp.download.com is on the west coast of US. Pretty far from the UK, but I don't think that would affect download speeds too much. Why don't you post a traceroute? For Windows, start a MS-DOS Prompt, and type

            tracert ftp.download.com

Copy and paste results (in Win9x, copy by using the box with dotted line on the toolbar, then hit the button next to it).

Actually, I think something was up with our network at work as our internet access was very slow to anywhere, including uk sites.

What is Blue Yonder? Would it speed people with cable modems? (I would always like to be faster).
