This time I didn't even have to go into a thread. When I opened up the Gaming forum it popped this up in a seperate window. I only had one IE opened at the time, and had not been to any other sites.

[edit] OK I am officially irritated. I was going to drop it but I just went into 3 different threads in TSB and it opened up on every one. I went back to them and it didn't open up. What's the deal??????

The problem is, it is so random I can't figure out what triggers it. I cleared my cache, and tried again but it didn't happen.

I've reinstalled Windows since that happened to me (for ACPI), haven't seen it since.

I just got the car pop-up ad when entering this thread!

Maybe this is a new GAGames feature.

OK folks, I'm getting worried. I started noticing this pop-up window outside of the MURC as well. I've also noticed it at home and at work. Something weird is going on?

I've not seen it anywhere but MURC. But, it seems that lately it has become more prevalant. Could someone have something in their sig that triggers it? If so every thread in which they post would be "infected". We may just have to go on a good old fashioned witch hunt.

This is going way too far. I just had the "speedyclick" car ad pop up when I went to the GH topic page. And I had a window for "iWin" pop up when I closed a thread. I bet this is GA's fault.

I'm getting some on-line lottery popping up whenever I leave a thread. It didn't start until today.

It wasn't a password thing, this was an actual add for cars or insurance or something. It just had a mini-van is all I remember (I close them too quick to see the whole thing). I saw it too, in a few threads (I can't remember either). If I see it again I will make a mental note of which thread it was in.

Could y'all let us know what threads you are seeing these things in so we can look into them furthur. So far the only thing I have ran into was the password pop-up that was in the Censorship thread and Ant edited that out.

                            Raptor:

I tried that. It doesn't work, the ad banners rotate on a "back". Irritating, huh?

I'm really suspicious of the gold Casino On Net banner. I just had the lottery ad pop up, and it was at the top of the forum page at the time.

There's a green Casino On Net banner that sometimes follows.

I haven't seen anything like you guys are describing. I wonder if we have some spyware thing happening - it sees a banner ad on the page and shows you a competing ad (like those register tape coupons at the grocery store).

I'm very anal about what goes on my computer so I'm very careful about what I download. Perhaps a GoZilla kind of thing?

Also, those of you who are seeing these ads, are you running any kind of a firewall? Anything to keep your computer from reaching out to the internet to get these ads, unknown to you?

                                /edit

I spoke too soon. Upon saving this note, I got a pop-up that tried to go to here: http://ad-adex3.flycast.com/www.iwin...ack.asp?id=254

                                the site wasn't found
