(Reuters) - Democratic presidential nominee Al Gore's daughter Kristin was only joking when she misstated the capital of Washington state at a rally Monday, the Gore campaign said Tuesday. "It was her standard joke, she does it all the time," Gore spokesman Chris Lehane said. Kristin Gore, 23, said at a rally for Gore in Everett, Washington,that her father had helped her in many areas of her childhood -- comforting her when her dog died, attending her soccer games, and helping her memorize names of The Beatles" albums "in chronological order." "He also was the guy who helped me study for my third-grade state capital quiz -- Seattle, I got it down," she said, clearly startling the large crowd. The capital of Washington is Olympia. Lehane said appearing to flub the geography lesson is a regular joke Kristin Gore makes in her campaign appearances.


Proof again, that no matter how minor the mistake, they aren't big enough to admit it. Instead they MUST lie about it. Pathetic!
And this was so obvious that Lehane had to explain the "regular joke" to the pool of reporters who has seen Kristin make how many campaign appearances?

It seems to me that if it was her "regular joke" it would not have made the news - because the press would have heard it a gazillion times before.

They even have to LIE about Gore's daughter.

I have heard this "joke" before on the News on this side of the pond. I think there is something funny about US politics..they spend so much energy slagging each other off, the press spends all it's time attempting to undermine the goverment and the public are appethetic to all of it..Then America wonders why people across the world don't respect it!!!

WHO doesn't respect America? It is the most powerful, most productive, wealthiest, most generous Nation in the world. That's why people are falling all over themselves to come here. Yeah, our politics get a little ugly every 4 years but that's part of the deal. I'll endure a little mud slinging and back biting around election time because the fact is, we get to choose the person that WE feel is best to run OUR nation. That is a privelage that many countries around the world don't have. Instead they have to be led by someone that either takes the position by force or happens to be born into the right family (now THAT'S a joke!).

About the rest of the world "listening" to us: If the world doesn't listen to us why is it that they are constantly comming to us for help when they have a problem? We seem to have become the worlds "911"' service. Let America withdraw into a little shell and see what would happen to the rest of the world. Many nations would get the crap kicked out of them and others would run rough shod over weaker countries.
