  • If we think it's wet in the UK

Well I'm interesting volcano's so I like keeping uptodate whats happening. So I've just looked at what Kilauea being doing and the report says no report due to there being twenty inches of rain and this being in less than 24 hours. So I think us brits ought to stop moaning.

Tell that everyone in the North, TP
Btw, you don't live in any of the evacuated towns in North-England, do you?
Next on our list is York...

Okay I haven't updated my web page but for the last month we've had 132mm of rain Sheffield region we missed out on yesterdays rain okay it rained I haven't checked the figures but for us it isn't interesting.
I'm not piss taking and I feel sorry for the people who've got problems.
Lets go back to hawai, okay it's 25mm for an inch now try 20 inches in less than twenty four hours.
With that amount of rain falling we couldn't cope in the first five minutes.
I do feel sorry for poeple who got problems. It would help if we didn't build on flood plains. I work with someone who used to work for the enviomental agency and most of the planning permission was via back handers to local councils. He also says a lot of other interesting things and no he wasn't sacked just got bored.
Jorden I didn't realise you moved to the UK.

I didn't TP, I read the Beebs' Ceefax and Dutch Teletext. Btw, a friend of mine in Droitwich Spa has been evacuated from his house earlier this week, and he lives in Worcestershire!

20 inches of rain (wasn't an inch always 2.54 cms?) on an island as Hawaii is normal. The landflow will take care of it, as will the vegetation. The best sewerage system they have there are the old lava tunnels

If you plan on going to Hawaii, be ready to land at the island of Oahoe

        Jord.

I think we go back to buildimg on flood plains and back handers.
Also the enviro agency (flood planning) in the uk is based on guess work and the british government spent millons but if your selling a product.

Jorden tell that to guys how are trying do the job not me!"
They didn't try go close in darkeness towards lava flows for a very easy reason it may get very hot and you can't see it.
Jorden you're in holland arn't you if i'm wrong I'm sorry but the average rainfall in hawaii to them to us like a spit in the wind.

Also true TP, but that spit in the wind for us is one spit per square mm here that goes into our rivers. Whereas Hawaii and it's multiple islands don't have that many rivers that will break their banks after a burst of rain. Their rivers just throw it out directly to sea.

Our rivers break their banks after getting trillions of gallons of water from the backlands and deliver multiple gallons per second to people who don't know their silent river could do that!! No-one told them about it

Comparing Hawaii to the UK is like comparing Himself's Clio to a Porsche GT-1

I just hear that the inner town of York is to be about flooded. With more rain coming, maybe you should look back from Hawaii and focus on the flows in your neighborhood... More rain is on it's way

Well it was a new record for hawaii 36.99 inches. Back in the UK apperently the flood defenses around Barlby are threatening to crack which could cause a major flood.
