The following link points to an article on The Register about a recent visit David Edmonds, the head of OFTEL, paid to the Trade and Industry select committee.
For non UK residents OFTEL was setup as an independant body to monitor telephone companies. It appears the Goverment aren't too happy with the way they are handling, or not handling, BT. Sounds like he went away with his tail between his legs
