  • RANT!

My girlfriend bought a car on Saturday and it has forced me to look at the parking situation around our home. We live in a terraced house with no onsite parking, so the only place to dump a car is on the street.

One side of the road is double yellow lines and the other has spaces for residents’ cars. However RIGHT outside our house is some crappy speed control device (basically just a large protrusion of the pavement) so I don’t have a space.

Also I feel that I should mention that we live right on the edge of the city centre so from about 7am the streets are crawling with people trying to park before going to work.

Also, we live reasonable close to the Football and Rugby grounds so there is no parking on match days.

I got up at 6am today to drive her to the train station (20 min walk). It took me 45 mines to park when I returned home.

    AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHH!

    sorry....

(emphasis mine, sorry for the pun )

Wondering if you still have a car after 45 mines, why not ask your city for resident's parking limits only? It might cost you something, but you won't have a problem with others parking in your place then

quoted from Paddy[MU] : "I need a big 4x4 so i can practice some vertical parking".
seeing that you already own a thunderbird, then I suggest that you call international rescue. lol

If I go out for lunch when I'm at work, and the drive has my dad's car in it, I have to park further away from my work than where I live!!

We have much the same problem here in Chicago.

Most neighborhoods are designated a specific parking sticker and only residents of that neighborhood can get the sticker allowing them to park there.

Street parking is so scarce, some people who have garages and don't need them are renting them out for up to $200/month.

My own parking spot was a prerequisite for any apartment I got in the city, but I paid handsomely for it...

                  A Solution!
All this could be fixed if you guys would
just come and live in Oklahoma City.
I live 10 min from my work at the center of
                  the city.
My house has it's oun parking of course. And
I'm sure it cost less to buy than most of you
                  pay in rent.
My work provides me with covered parking
across the street from the building I work
                  in.
Of course living in Oklahoma City has a disadvantage, in that it's Oklahoma City
                  you have to live in.
This place could use the diversity.
                  Think about it at least.

I drove from Birmingham to Leicester this morning in about 45mins. It has taken another hour to find a space...

and i have to move it in a few mins....

And there is no residential parking.

I will move house when my tenancy agreement is up...
