  • Mua'Dib has returned...no not that one!

Did anyone catch Dune on the Sci-Fi channel last night? Sci-Fi pulled off an excellent part one. Some of the accents were a big odd, but everything else was masterfully done.

Even if you are not a fan of the movie, you should watch it, because it's not like the movie...not that much anyway.

Can't wait for part two tonight! Good epic programming has finally returned to TV.

DAMNIT!!! I wish I had cable.

Oh well, I was busy last night anyway. And I wouldn't have missed what I was doing for the world (and before you get any ideas in your head, it was nothing dirty and it had nothing to do with alcohol). I'm part of a church choir and we performed Handel's Messiah last night. I'll spare you all my rant about how much I love this peice of music (at least for the moment ).

Anyway, what do you suppose the chances are that the Sci-Fi channel will be releasing the episodes on DVD? (here's to hoping!)

No no no. I'm still here, don't worry. About that old system, it's got a bad motherboard, so nothing for me to do....

Anyway, I'm not sure about that movie Jammrock. It's ordering was SO off from the book and there were SO many added/changed things that I'm not sure where to put it. I mean, IRULAN being at the H. Atreides party on Arrakis!?! WTF!!!

Having seen De'Laurentis' (sp!?!) version SO many times, it's plain weird watching it being so different. I think I like it a little bit but I'm not sure. I'm definately hoping the next sections will be MUCH better, even though I have to admit they did a very good job with the first section (albeit not following the storyline exactly).

About it being on DVD, they'd be STUPID not to put it on DVD with the amount of Dune fans out there. I hope they do simply because it's Dune and I would buy it.

I saw it. Pretty good too.
The original was so embarrassingly bad that I
feared a little for this one.
They are doing just fine though, so far.

Hmmm...maybe I enjoyed the movie a bit more than others since I've never...gotten around to reading the book *ducks for cover from Maud'Dib*. The movie was very wierd. I'm really enjoying the style and flow of the mini-series. I can definately notice a big difference between the two.

I'm pretty sure they'lll release it on DVD. If they say they won't I'm sure enough people will partition them to make it worth their while. Most major mini-series get put out on disc now a days anyway.

HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK!?! *fumes coming out of my ears!!!*

                  Instructions for Jammrock:
Dood, stop what you're doing and go immediately to the nearest bookseller and buy it. Open to page 1 of book 1 and begin reading. Once finished, with page one, flip the page. Continue until finished.

I think that this movie is certainly better than the other movie, don't get me wrong, it's just a bit off the story line to a certain degree.

I'm hopin for a DVD release though. I don't know if it was just my location or what, but I kept getting strange sound/video glitches which kept interrupting things (like skips for the sounds and blank screens for video), but I bet it'd be a whole lot better without those on DVD. Did anyone else experience this? It was VERY distracting.

Certainly has been a long time m8. I've ddevvellloped an accent as weeell as a stutter in the innterrrim....

Ok. Here's what really bugs me about the movie. I can take the fact that they have changed quite a bit of the ordering - I'm ok with that. I cannot stand however, the backgrounds that have been painted and dropped behind the scenes. That is just absolutely the most disgusting thing I've seen in just about ANY movie. I've realized though that once you look beyond that and watch it sort of as a "play" with "play-type" expectations, it is REALLy good. The special effects are really cool too. I was VERY impressed with the scene when Jessica changed the water of life.

What did you all think? Did anyone catch last nights episode?

                        I'm still watching.
                        Second episode was good.
It is like a cross between a high-tech special effect extravaganza and a stage play with nothing in between.
I read the book so long ago (early 70's) that I don't remember the details enough to complain about differences.
