well some things aren't what they should be, for example right now while im typing this, the text box is at the right side of the screen, but thats not really an elephant of a problem...

other than that i find it a great competitor to both NETSCAPE and IEXPLORER.... it is compatible with every site i went to and every feature... unlike the old version of opera

i would use it as my standard browser, except first of all im going to see where and how big the banners will appear....

anyone know of a sshot of what da banners would look like?

Ironically, it doesn't seem to like this particular thread.

      It does fly, however.

Hmm... Opera 5 is really quite good.

I like that it gives you very detailed settings and information.

I've got to second FaRaN's question though. Just why?

Nicer handling of downloads? That's actually the best advantage over IE... but I already have a download manager I like. Integrated email/instant messaging? Thanks, but no thanks, I have no need for that either.

The fastest browser? Not here. IE55 beats it in the speed department easily especailly when it comes to resizing windows.

It still has that stupid multiple document interface which has always made Opera very inconvenient for me to use in Windows. No wonder Microsoft made even Word 2000 and the other Office apps not to use MDI.

Add to that the fact that plenty of pages still don't display correctly, or that it often won't show much of a page until it is fully loaded, I don't think it's worth putting up with advertisements or paying for it.

That is, if you are using Windows.

Opera5 could be good news for BeOS or Linux. Only O5 isn't available for BeOS yet, as a matter of fact neither is Opera4 .

I can never get IE 5.5 or otherwise to actually treat visited web pages as visited web pages, it ALWAYS reloads them in. (EDIT: If you select never update, it will work, but what's the good of that?)

Want a web page that zaps onto the screen with Opera and plods under IE?

Hmmm...I use IE 5.01 with SP, and that page loads a tic under two seconds. Is that plodding?

It's more like 30 secs here with IE 5.5. Even before caching the site, Opera is around 5 seconds. This site has a million tiny little images, if the browser stalls on one every now and again, the whole load is stalled, that's what seems to happen in IE.

Why oh why did I even try?

So I downloaded that stupid thing. In ten seconds I found the first major bug. It crashes when you delete two bookmarks in a row. I am not even going to begin to list all things that I don't like about it, there are just too many. It's hardly even better than netscape. You can say about microsoft what you want, but noone makes software that is more easy to use, and with relatively few bugs. And IE5 shows that groundzero page faster than opera, when it's cached it's about the same.
