Trying to figuring out what Matrox is up to is like tying to find a road that's not on the map, at night, while wearing welders googles!

Guess it didn't work, Andrei... after all, who wants 3dfx's current chips??

All nVidia wants is rights to the Glide API, probably, anyway, since they're paying so little ($112 million isn't very much for a company as "powerful" and "important" as 3dfx would have us believe)... nVidia could make better chips with their hands behind their backs.

Wonder what "3dfx" is going to do with that $55 million, $70 million, or $85 million (I wasn't quite clear on that "crediting towards the cash purchase" thing), without their rights to use the 3dfx or Voodoo trademarks....

Hm... so they made Glide public, but nvidia couldn't use it? I doubt...
There's another thing - 3dfx won in the court against nvidia, i remember something multitexturing. That makes sense then...

Most likely 3dfx will use the money to pay back creditors. After they have done that the company will be dissolved.

Why would they want glide???,even 3dfx was moving away from it,to the point that had they released their next chip,it would have features that could only be fully exploited in DX9(according to scott sellers).

What i think nvidia wanted with the purchase was to acquire all of 3dfx's patents and at the same time solve the court case between both companies.

Imagine what Nvidia can do with both the gigapixel and the scalable chip patents(and technology)that 3dfx previously owned.

This just makes Nvidia even stronger than than before, and even more of a nightmare to their competitors.
              note to self...

Assumption is the mother of all f***ups....

              Primary system :
P4 2.8 ghz,1 gig DDR pc 2700(kingston),Radeon 9700(stock clock),audigy platinum and scsi all the way...

Fun fun, so after nVidia gave lots of OEMs a chance to sell their products under their name, we'll now have nVidia Voodoo's streaming onto the market?

Let's just hope that they have drivers that work
