Jorden: yeah, that really sucks.. I was hoping for some good frost, so that we could play some hockey on the small ponds around here.

WOW! This is the first time in a decade that it has snowed and hasn't started melting the next day! It's white outside still. And more snow on Friday!

In December of 1992, I moved from California back to New York City. It was pretty cold when I arrived, and I suspected I had made a big mistake. In 1994, I was treated to the coldest winter in the city's history. In 1996, NYC had it's snowiest winter. It seemed we had three or four severe storms a week. And this went on for months.

Upstate would get it even worse. Binghamton, NY would record a total accumulation of over 131 inches.

I seem to recall getting nailed once or twice in April, and then NYC would get it's earliest recorded 90°F day. Think 7,380,906 people wheezing from bronchitis.

I moved back to California the next year. Personally, I'm happy to trade the white Christmas's for the *lack* of white Halloweens, Thanksgivings, New Years Days, Martin Luther King Days, Easters, St. Patrick's Days, April Fools' Days, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Here's the extended forecast for Beverly Hills, CA:

                    http://www.weather.com/weather/us/zips/36hr/90210.html

Excellent shopping weather! Looks like a couple of good beach days are coming up over the weekend.

Now, if we could only get the damn ground to stand still. A building or highway overpass falling on you can really wreck a perfectly nice, sunny day.

It has been sunny, but cold for a week or so, but it has finally happened. We got some real snow! Woohoo...! It has stopped now, but it's about 6" And that's a conservative 6", not the usual 6" measurement thing.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. You California people and your stinking sunny weather! What fun is it to have clear skies and sunny weather year round? I'll tell you! It's not, it's BORING!!!

You need snow! You need rain! You need tornados! You need weather so unpredictable that the weathermen say, "There's a 30% chance the snow will move North at the Tanganoxie split. A 40% we'll get 1"-15" of snow. Unless the warm fron hits us, in which case it will ice storm. Or the jet stream could change and we'll have 6" of rain. But there is a 10% chance that we won't get jack!"

                          Now that's a weather forecast!

                          Welcome to Kansas.

NASA Science News for December 14, 2000

A solar eclipse is coming on Christmas Day, 2000. The winter landscape across parts of North America will assume an
eerie cast, and cooler-than-usual winds might swirl, as the New Moon glides across the face of the Yuletide Sun.

                                Snow and an eclipse!!!

I've seen snow twice and an eclipse once.

I think we need a new Prime Minister here, or something, cause things just aren't happening here.
