  • Beware the Evil Empire..

This site has been around for awhile.. It may have been started out of justifyable vindictiveness, but I would not be surprised to find all sorts of truths there..

That's some harsh stuff. I suppose almost any corporation that large has their share of horror stories.
The more people you employ the more things get screwed up and out of control. Especially with EEOC violations and benifits.

You know, there are hundreds of thousands of employees that work for Intel. I bet I can come up with 50 or so complaints easily from my company that employs 7000 people.

Anytime you give someone a forum to vent with the ability to be anonymous and with no chance of rebuttal from those you're venting against, you're going to have people come out of the woodwork to complain.

One of these anonymous posters said it best...

"I'll certainly be in touch, 'cause my ax sure needs some grinding!"

Take this kind of site with an enormous grain of salt...

As for people not wanting to support Intel, I'm all for that - vote with your feet, folks, but do it for your OWN reasons, not something you read from an anonymous poster on some website. (not directed at you, btw, Joel, but at some of those 'me too' posters)

I've been hearing about these kind of stories for years. That is one of the reason why I don't buy Intel and haven't in years. I also don't buy from Intel because of their overall business practices. I fully believe that if it wasn't for the likes of AMD and VIA that we would all probably still be running standard Pentium 200s and paying three to four more, than what we pay now for current Intel products.

            I respectfully disagree.

If this site existed in a vacuum, I'd agree, but Intel has *long* had a reputation for having an unpleasant (to say the least. Some would say bizarre) corporate culture and tense internal politics. I might be more familiar with it because I live in the Bay Area. It's certainly no secret, however. Most of the venom seems to be directed at the Arizona plant, but Santa Clara has a pretty rotten rep as well.

Some big high tech companies actually have very good reputations as employers. IBM used to pride itself in never having laid off an employee. We all know that has changed, and I'm sure they have had their share of employees, but they certainly don't have the rep Intel does. I hear they pay well, but you have to put up with *a lot* of crap.

While they have slipped up a bit, Intel has and continues to produce many fine products. However, this is the first time I've seen them defended as an employer.
