    NAV is a resource eater...
I´ve been using Innoculate-IT for the last year and I think it´s great. And it´s free:

      Hummm,
      Checks around system.
No, can't see NAV Corporate Edition taking up a lot of resources.
Quick check on my system here shows it has been up for 10 days and in that time NAV has had 2hrs of CPU time.
Checking memory useage - 4,352k can't really complain at that either.
It cost one penny to cross, or one hundred gold pieces if you had a billygoat.
Trolls might not be quick thinkers but they don't forget in a hurry, either

Haven't you heard of <A HREF="http://www.f-secure.com/">F-Secure</A>'s Anti-Virus software? Does all you described and has done so for years. Their files are always really up to date; they were first to report about and provide a cure to Melissa for example.
Their DOS scanner is free. I've never used any other and don't see a reason why I would need to.
