Thank you all so much!!! You really help make this birthday much more happy .

OK, lessee.... Gurm, if you knew how slow I drink beer, you wouldn't suggest I do so for my birthday . I'm trying to practice, being in Holland and all, but it's not going that well. Must be a "girl thing", I dunno .

Chuck, you're an angel! Not that I feel "old" or anything-- in fact, I'm quite grateful to not be "young" anymore (since you finally get some good sense and the ability to use it)-- but it's still kinda nice to be called a "youngster" .

Jim!!! Jim!!! Best present I ever got!!!! Are those <u>3</u> slots I see...?! I didn't realize how much toast means to me until I met you.... .

Pauly, I forgive you. No one could match the spiffiness of Jim's present, anyway. No harm, no foul.

Bart.... I can live (with difficulty) with Jord posting my age. I must say that if he posts my weight though, one of you will have to hide me from the cops, because I will have to kill him.

Liquid Snake, you should know that you have just used your one free one as a Brooklynite. Next time, it's your head. "Old people", indeed!!!

Errr, Rags.... I don't know if I forgive you or not. Points in your favor:

I started as a Mac person, so I don't hate Macs from the start.
It is real pretty (though I suppose all the external add-ons are still in the original aqua and won't match...)
But it's still an <u>iMac</u>!!! I mean, hey, I can get a 15" monitor here (since that's what I have, with a 14" second one), and I get a normal mouse to boot!

Though I would kinda like to see the mouse that goes with this iMac... and what do they call the "color"? "FlowerPower"?

OK, I forgive you, it made for some interesting speculation, anyway!!!

        Thanks, everybody!

          Happy Birthday Holly!

Since you have a huge amount of candles to light on your birthday cake, here is Martha Stewart showing how to light them all at once:

                Happy Birthday!

Since everyone's gifts of computers here are so cheesy, I thought I'd go the other way and get you something nice!

In case you are wondering, it's a Quad Alpha Workstation!

                OR..

If you decide to trade for what's behind door#3.. (heh.. you're 6 months younger than I am, surely you remember when Monty Hall was a household name )

                <font color=red><font size=7><center><marquee><blink>IT'S A NEW CAR!!</blink></marquee></center></font></font>

                GASP! (CLUTCHES HEART)

                IT'S A BRAND NEW BMW Z8!!
Yes, the new BMW Z8 with 400HP V8 goes from zero to 60 (oops 100kph) in just 4.8 seconds! It includes premium sound system and leather interior, and a state of the art GPS so you'll always know where you are! (even if you can't read the roadsigns over there)

All you have to do is guess which is more expensive and you can have your pick if THE PRICE IS RIGHT!!.. oops wrong show! (anyhow, remember that that thing up there uses Compaq memory in Gigabyte chunks!)

No, it's not a trick question, but remember you still have to buy gas and insurance for the BMW in the Netherlands!

tick.. tock.. tick.. tock (insert stressful music here)

                ------------------
                Kind Regards,

And if you're gonna waste 120 G's on a car - that's NOT the one to do it on....

Btw, KvH, you're not supposed to be playing "stressful music"... if this is a game show, there's only one music that could go at the end of your post, and that's the "Final Jeopardy" music....!

While I'm sneaking around trying to look this info up (and having absolutely no success, btw), I would ask if you or anyone remembers Bob Barker's first show (or the one that was on when I was a kid, anyway). I remember the show, and I remember the segments where he'd have a woman whose husband was away (I guess in Vietnam, thinking about it now) come on stage, blindfold her, and have her touch or kiss a line of men for some trumped-up reason, and see if she recognized her husband, who they had gotten there on a special leave... but I can't remember the name of the show .

Anyway, about the prizes.... let's see.

It's pretty old-school to think the car is automatically more expensive.
However, while they might be approximately the same price if the computer was a server, it's a workstation, which might be considerably less expensive.
The BMW is so pricey that you have to go to a dealer to find out how much it is, but you can configure an Alpha server online....
I think I have to go with the car, but do I get a "cash value" option if I win? I don't think Jord in a BMW is what I want for my birthday (he has to drive it, as I can't drive a stick-shift).....

But either way, "thank you for playing our game"!

PLEASE accept the Alpha workstation. When you do, MAKE SURE that you load up SETI or Genome on it.

As she wouldn't do it on her old PC, who says she wants it on her new PC?

Either way, she'll say it's a mis-use of resources, so she won't do it, and still take up all the bandwidth on my modem

                        Jord.

Well, just sneak it on to there. The Alpha workstation runs Tru64-Unix, so just load it in the background, she'll never notice it

think we can hide these remarks? she hasn't read them yet

                            I won;t delete mine, though!

Well, I don't know how Tru64 Unix works, so I don't know how you could hide it anyway
