As some of you may know there is a census coming around on August the
7th. For those who don't know, a census is where the government
collates general information about its residents (number of people living
in your house, religion, etc)

If there are enough people, who put down a religion that isn't
mentioned on the census form it becomes a fully recognised and legal
religion. It usually takes about 10,000 people to nominate the same religion.

It is for this reason that it has been suggested that anyone who
does not have a dominant religion to put "Jedi" as their religion.

Send this on to all your friends and tell them to put down "Jedi"
on their census form. And remember ......If you are a member of the
Jedi religion then you are by default a 'Jedi Knight'.

So if this has been your dream since you were 4 years old.... Do
it because you love Star Wars, If not........... then just do it to
annoy people.

I'm not perfectly sure of the laws here, but I'm reasonable certain that I can just declare a religion, become the the head priest (or in this case shrink to half height, gain some pointy ears and paint my face green - his speech pattern was Japanese grammar used anyway) and declare it on my tax for lots of refunds

Actually our census is 29th April... I got it wrong.

Also, if we were all Jedi, couldn't we declare our own public holidays?

SteveC: I think you'll find that e-mail is referring to the Australian Census on August 7th.

I know a few people who are going to do it, too, and by the sounds of how many people know about it, they may get the 10,000.

The same thing came out before the New Zealand census. It was on the news, and an expert said it would just be thrown out, even if the 5000 (we are only small) entries was reached.
