  • did anyone see 'the weakest link' US version?

I just did on BBC.... omg that was funny.

Here's one of the Q/As, to give you a taste of how it was like:

Q: Which nazi seargant was known during WW2 as 'the desert fox'?

    A: 'Neurenberg'?

Yeah, I watch it all the time.

Some of those people are really stoopid.

and the person giving that particular answer was one of the people giving the most correct answers... it was just that he had no idea at all about something I regards as general knowledge.

I think that there are 2 kinds of knowledge, School knowledge and pop culture knowledge. Some people are great with one but not the other. Ask someone who the 12th President of the United States was, and then ask them who is the lead singer of U2. Usually they will only get one right. That's what I like about Weakest Link, they ask questions about both.

        BTW: Irwin Rommel

Erwin Rommel, of course, was not a sergeant -- at least during the Africa campains. I think he was a Field Marshall. I'm not certain if he was a Nazi or not.

I'm fairly sure about Anne Robinson, however.

I'm sure they were asking for Rommel. I just don't know why they singled him out as a sergeant. He seems to have held nearly every rank the Wehrmacht had to offer.

Rommel definitely was not a Nazi! And he did have many ranks but is widely known as "Feldmarschall" - AFAIK this was his rank at the time he was called "Wüstenfuchs" as well and surely not seargant.

Maybe the makers of the weakest link should diss employees responsible for such incorrect questions.

I could have heard the seargant part incorrect, but they did address him as 'nazi'. Maybe a bit too generalizing if he was serving the wehrmacht instead

But nevertheless, desert fox should have been enough for just about anyone to know who they meant.

                  Another classic for the BBC.

It's all right here if you are interested.

Who do you think they were asking for?
