  • Work sucks

What I hate about work is when you work your ass off helping poeple, supervising poeple doing ten times more then many poeple, doing jobs that you others can't do or wont do.
They then say you can't have your promotion becuase you don't do anything special.
You appeal and you get the same crap.
Even better your immediate boss discovers that your not doing early morning covers anymore and wants to know why. He then wants to know why you leave early. I don't I finnish when my hours are worked and I start half n hour earlier than anyone else. His boss knows that. He then wants someone to talk to me about broading my horizons so I can get my promotion. This is from a guy who has blocked my every move to try broaden my horizon becuase he knows it's would have been more difficult to block my promotion in the first place.
You get poeple in this place who are completly stupid, toss it off come in when they feel like it.
I'm going to get completly and utterly rat arsed this weekend.

Oh and this place won't f!"£ing train you in anything.

But it´s just such an obvious joke
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

If I didn't have to pick my car up tomorrow I'd get rat arsed tonight.

I hear you PIT that's part of the reason I'm changing jobs at month's end. The "downside" of that is that I won't get to go to California next month but that's a small price to pay I need to earn more than I'm doing now so I can pay my student loan off comfortably.

              The PIT,

This should not be considered a hard and fast absolute as it's based solely on my experiences and observations.

Sometimes promotions are not based entirely on your ability to do the job, but how much daylight you can see....or rather, how you take care of or treat your boss.

The way to get promotion where I work is as follows.

                1) Shag the director (Instant promotion).
                2) Shag someone else who shags the director.
                3) Be completly useless and cost the University money.
                4) Work there for over twenty years and they'll feel sorry for you.
                5) Don't supervise anyone.
                6) Arrive when you feel like it.
                7) Fall asleep at your desk.
                8) Got to the local book shop and read books for a few hours.
                9) Have two or more hours lunch break.
10)Don't wash and stink the place out.

The top two are very important. Oh I forgot another one Don't do any work get someone else to do you job for you and read the paper.

How not to get a promotion.

                1) Work in your own spare time.
                2) Work hard.
                3) Know what you doing.
                4) Give advise to the rest of the collegues.
                5) Take appropiate lunch breaks
                6) Don't take tea breaks.
                7) Leave the office so you can get your clients machines fixed.
                8) Try and get trained.
                9) Make suggestions at meetings.
                10) Agree with your Boss but he doesn't listen to what your saying so he doesn't notice anyway.

God don't I wish jobs weren't scarce round here or I'd been walking out in no time.

Now you see why they don't promote you, there would be nothing getting done!

My old job in Australia was the same, we all knew the rule for promotion which was :
screw up big time and get promoted out of the position you were in.
Do the work well and you'd never get out of there.

(and yes this was basically a large government department)

Well, I've been at Intel for 3 months now. Despite all the horror stories all I can say is Intel ROCKS!!!!!!!!

The training and resources here are phenominal. Today I started a 4 week "Engineering Bootcamp" The first week is Intel Culture and the social type stuff. The next 3 weeks will be heavy on Statistical Process Control and Yield Analysis.

Now I know why Intel Engineers are feared by Process Tool venders and the rest of the industry. They are the most Intense, Results oriented bunch I have ever worked with.

But, I can also say this is the best group of people I've ever worked with.

I'm also lucky because I'm in a postion where I can work with both Logic (Processors and Chipsets) and flash memory products.
