Hmmm.... that article didn't really say much at all.

Until I read a review of a completed clinical trial, I'll remain sceptical.

I believe it is possible to delay the progression of the disease, but I have not seen anything that might suggest its progression could be halted...

I thought that Alzheimer’s had an insidious onset. Surely therefore, a high proportion of people will be quite advanced before they are diagnosed. Having a treatment to prevent further decay is not going to be of much use to them….
We need something to either prevent its onset, or to reverse its effects. From what little I read from that extract I could see no evidence of either. But of course, it is still a step in the right direction...

Technoid: But as the development of cancer takes years to occur, the question of whether or not mobile phones are ‘safe’ won’t be truly answered for 20+years….
Take smoking for example. I am sure that you wouldn’t have found much immediate risk from smoking 40+ years ago. Hindsight is a wonderful thing...

People that say ‘of course its safe’ really annoy me...


Gurm: Yeah, I hear the therapy is pretty good....but I was under the impression that most people who develop prostate cancer will die of something else first...still don't you think prevention is better than cure?

Oh, and do you have a much higher risk of developing colorectal cancer - being a 'white upper-class male in the USA'?

The reason I think all these "mobile phones are killers" reports are funny is becase most of the test are being caried out on GSM phones.
But most of the cases claiming to have got cancer beause of mobile phones actualy started using them when they was based on the NMT system.
The NMT system always transmitted even if you arn't talking (and did output alot stronger signal)compared to GSM systems that send a signal once a half anhour if you don't recive a phone call.

Just the usual places. I just try to keep up. There are drugs now that can halt the production of the fatty plaques, and there are promising new drugs that can reverse it but will require a few years of testing.

I'm happy that we live in a day and age where most of the things that will go wrong with me between now and the time I die will be curable long before I get them.

Prostate cancer, my #1 enemy being a white upper-class male in the USA, is almost 100% curable now, and most cases don't even result in impotence any more! Woohoo!

Of course I don't think that holding a device thats basicly a low level microwave owen at your head is perfectly safe...

But what I don't like is the Media's way of saying "We know that the mobile phone is the cause of cancer and every other nasty thing that we can thinh about; We just have to find the proof..."

The new cell phones are likely less dangeous than the old ones that transmitted continously....

And what anout all the other electronics devices we have in our home?

Are they safe?

Rather than trying to find out if the cell phones are microwaving our heads they could encourage cellphone makers to make phone that directs all energy away from the head...

Too bad someone couldn't program cell phones to electrocute people who drive with one hand with a cell phone in the other. That would rule. I'm all for cell phones causing the deaths of idiots.
