130mph, peaking at 135+ (needle on the tach was buried in the red in top gear, so I reckon I was at manufacturers quoted top speed) for about 30 minutes round the bottom loop of the M25 early one Sunday morning in my first Citroen BX16v (I'm on my 3rd, yes I like them)
I was due to pick up my parents from Gatwick airport when the flight landed 45 minutes early, so I left at rather a faster pace than I normally drive.
Before you ask, my driving license is cleanAthlon XP-64/3200, 1gb PC3200, 512mb Radeon X1950Pro AGP, Dell 2005fwp, Logitech G5, IBM model M.

I don't know the fastest I was going (speedo only goes to 100), but I made it from Chattanooga TN to Dallas Texas in 9 hours and 45 min. in a 1998 Ford Expedition (No tickets woo-hoo!)
We just got a new 2001 Ford Expedition (Eddie Bauer decked out with heated seats, 300 watt stereo, TV/VCR entertainment center, etc..) yesterday so I may beat my record next time since we won't have bored kids.

About 140mph in a '72 Skylark with a rebuilt 360, a Vette carb. and drag tires.

But in reality, most "Autobahns" nowadays have a speed-limit - for political reasons, not for real ones, as often the smaller and more twisted ones are those that are free while the big straight ones carry a speed-limit of 120 or 130 Kmh (only 75-80 Mph).
This is where you can notice the difference between really good cars and cars that are just fast the most: the handling/stability at a speed of 180Kmh and up. And if you have to brake down from these speeds the difference is even bigger...
But then driving a Golf at 180Kmh can be more "fun" than driving a Mercedes S at 250Kmh, if you're into that kind of "thrill" (which I'm not), because in the Mercedes you simply don't notice the speed.
As with gfx-cards: speed alone isn't everything.

About 261 kph / 160 mph in my S2000 with closed top, 250 kph and 156 mph opened for about 20 kilometers, and about 230 kph / 143 mph constantly for nearly an hour with opened top. Which was quite noisy, I might add. And the guy on the passanger's seat lost his cap due to the wind :-)

As a driver, 170Kph in a 1985 Camaro, in a 100K zone.
As a passenger, 220Kph in an old 280ZX in a 100K zone. Frame on this car was so bad that you needed to place a 2X4 under it to jack the car.
The foolish days of what was once my youth.
Oh and 120Kph in a 50K zone on the back of a Honda Sabre 1100.
