    Brace yourselfs!!

My dads car got its sparkplugg electronics fried!

We went for a 24-houre cruise! (Taxfree shops....)

When we came back the car had been vandalised or mayby burglarised!

They had tried to steal the gas from the tank.

They had destroyed the locks on the baggage compartment and the right door!

And on top of that the above mentioned lightning dammage (that we haddent noticed erlier) whent complete and stranded us, and ofcourse the bus had just left!

    And when I Started My NLE computer to check If everything was OK;

My RRG seems to have taken a Shourtcut to hell!

Last time I had that machine on everything worked like klockwork!

    Now it frezes up!

    Tested Reinstalling!, no go!

And that one has no modem, no antenna cable atached, is on a grounded and surge protected outlet!

And then I discover that my USB scanner wont work anymore, I test it on another computer and it works!

Either VIA's USB is crappier than I thought or the ports have blown!

Funny, my USB ms mouse works great!

AND on top of everything It's Friday the 13'th!

Edited because a new Thundersorm forced me to disconect!!!

I had a week of lightning...

      in a sense too.

Last monday I spent ~14 hours trying to get my Celeron system to boot up after it acting up the previous day. Even when it did I repeatedly had lan problems and or lost connectivity to the net (it functions as my internet gateway also).

Finally I struck gold and got it working so so. During this time I had hoped to finalize a review of a Zalman CNPS 3100G HS I'm doing for LAMFDTK over @ www.trainwrecker.com . By end of the day I hadn't incompleted the review. was tired and frustrated with all the headaches of the previous day, decided to call it a night.

Now I made the mistake of shutting down my Celeron system and upon powering it up the next morning even tho it powered up ok, I couldn't connect to the net, nor did my lan work from any machine to it. So to minimize down time, I shut it down, pulled the nic from it and installed on my oldest system that the wife uses, in an effort to minimize down time so I could complete said review.

That was a huge mistake as I couldn't get a proper IP addy from VerizonDSL and was only getting the default 169.xxx.xxx.xxx ip.

Verizon, after repeatedly trying to resolve this issue issued a ticket# and then told me that this issue had been escalated but would take 24-72 hours to resolve. This time is a holding pattern that put you in before sending it over to Genuity (second lagrest backbone provider in the US). Balking this lag time, I continued to call whoever I had a PH# for until it was resolved. Finally I managed to get ahold of a Tier2 tech at MCC (Maintence Control Center) whom pushed the issue up the ladder to Chris, the lead agent. From their they promised to have the issue addressed within an hour. I was gleeful!

      Hold your horses there buddy.

Over the next couple of hours of conference calls Nobody could resolve the problem, even tho they had gone as far as rebuilding me.

At this point it was 5pm and no internet, so I decided to take a break and spend some qality time with the wife.

A few hours later I decided to test Celeon system and came to the conclusion that both the HD and MB were failing (Oh wonderful! (

After finishing that up, I resumed my quest for a resolution as to my ip addy issue and lack of net access. About 2am (same day) I was back in contact with MCC again over this IP issue and we repeatedly tried different nics reinstalled driver and rebuilt TCP/IP stacks... to no avail. They couldn't do any line tests for that server was down, but stuck to their guns and repeatedly claimed it must be my computer.

Frustrated the only thing left to try was using again another system (I have three). During the time I was removing the nic I had noticed my modem had been what appeared to be multiple resets as indicated by the 3 LEDs. Not being that concerned about it (and thinking somebody out their maybe doing more tests) I configured the nic in a new machine, reconnected the modem and hot damn I was back in business.
      (This was yesterday early AM)

      Hold your horses their buddy!

Now even tho I have the proper IP, I randomly loose connection to Verizons DNS servers! But it's not just that, but all communication, even tho I can still ping my gateway!

Returning to MCC for help the first tech claims he can't help and tells me to call Chris back in a couple hours as he's addressing this issue (what BS!) A few hours later I call, and Chris isn't around... Awww DAMNIT!

The wife just came home so we have dinner and some more quiet time.

Resuming ~10pm, I again call and speak with Jason. This guy has been around the Verizon block a few times and hears my complaints. We go through the normal steps and he agrees this issue is with the ISP (Verizon Online)... he conference calls them and speaks to Ben. Jason gets off the phone promising to call me back in about 10-15m as needing the Ticket # Ben is suppose to issue me. I stay on the line after Jason drops the call and within a minute without saying anything and without warning Ben drops the call without issueing me a Ticket! WTF?!

I'm PO'd to say the least

10 minutes later Jason returns his call to me as promised and asks for the ticket, when I hit him up withBen hungup and didn't issue a ticket. He's flabbergasted and calls them back, we again explain the situation and the woman issues neccessary ticket with a halfassed mumble at the end about the lag time. Knowing their policy (like the back of my hand by now) I question this delay time before Jasongets off the line with neccessary info to give Genuity. She states yes it's been escallated and it'll be responded to in 24-72 hours. Jason is agast claiming they have 24 hours to respond to trouble shooting calls to which if neccessary will dispatch a truck to the customers location and that VerizonOnline support has it easy. She explains that normal operating proceedure and hangs up. Jason awash in this bueacrasy BS, tells me he's still there to help and will call me back after speaking to Genuity. About 5 minutes he does so, but Genuity can't and won't do anything for VerizonOnline support hasn't issued that ticket to them (it's in their perpetual holding pattern) and with them looking back at the previous tickets claim they won't touch it for the already rebuilt me and the problem is with my machine.

Hopping mad now, They're basing this mountianous pile of crap which only pertained to a different system! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg!

(Yes this is a book and still haven't got that bloody review done!)

Today... now this particular issue hasn't been addressed, but am assured that it will be looked into only because I have proven to them that the previous problem was on another completely different machine.

Still waiting for resolution to that problem, but at least now there is light at the end of the tunnel. (this is by far an extremely condensed version of what did happen and the what seems like hundreds of phone calls and various miscellaneous BS...)

      Whoa! Hold your horses!

What I haven't mentioned yet, is two days ago in the midst of all this freakin BS, my main monitor, a 21" jobby died.

      But wait! (to be continued...

      When it rains it pours!

BTW, that review is still not done

                News update on the scanner:

                It isn't my USB ports!

First I thought that it was a bad USB cable sice it worked for a while when I changed it!

                But then it just died.

I found out that it kills itself after ~5mins and then it brings PSP down with it also.

And to get it working again I have to turn it of, reboot, start PSP, start the scanner, scan pictures as fast as i can for ~4 mins, end scaning, save pictures.

                Something is definitly wrong!

I thought about powersaving features but it cant be it because erlier i have scanned something when the scanner has been "on" for several hours and then the only thing that happened was that you had to wait untill the scanner had warmed up!

Will have to check in on Desktop video about the RRG!

                Check back later!
