I think Matrox needs to buy Sage or Genesis or one of these other flat panel display chip companies while they are cheap, before flat panels take over the world and they become the competitors with the product for tomorrow all wrapped up..

Anyone know what kind of display adapters work with a flat panel? Could you plug one in to a G400/G450? Does the panel need this card or does the display chip in the panel do all the work?

It depends on the flat panel. Some use standard VGA connectors while others use some sort of DVI connector. If you had a G550, you could run either, or if you have the flatpanel connector on your G400, you could do the same.

Yes, but is a traditional display adapter even really needed with these panels? Remember there being something different enough about them that the video card would be different and much simpler.

The analog ones need a traditional adapter, the digital ones don't need a video card with a RAMDAC to operate.
