Ugh. So I called (after the 48 hour limit was up) to see why my modem wasn't on. The support guy was actually really helpful. He checked out my log, and it looks like the re-provisioning was submitted, but he couldn't find it. He did it again, and gave me a Ticket# to track things. Took a month off my bill. He also said that there's no reason that a truck should have to come out.

Not really a cable modem... but I am awaiting the arrival of the person brining me my ADSL package any day now. Then I can harass Greebe in GH/S 24/7 ...grin...

As a friend of mine has problems already with his package, but he has ISDN, I wonder if I can get in and out without problems.

I'll report back in this thread

What is your problem Jord? It's not that I enjoy harrassing you, but that your offbase answers to others problems are the only thing that causes you problems with me. Many others have told you this very fact repeatedly, shame you don't listen.

So, that second submission was Thursday. I called Friday, and it was still being worked on. I called Saturday, and it doesn't even f@#king EXIST in their systems. I have to wait another week, and then they are sending a truck out. What a crappy way to run things.

I am hooked up with SWBell.
When I got DSL everything went GREAT.
My kit got to my house before the tech did,
The tech knew his stuff,
I was put on PPPoE, (no connection software)
My line was not rate locked (I get 1,100 - 1,400 on a 384 line)
It was cool. (it still is for me)
So, I recommended it to everyone I knew......

You can guess the rest
Yes, they all hate me now. (including my father )

The reason it worked out that way is that I adopted very early.
They started advertising after I was on & they got hammered.
It is a simple case of not having expended enough capital.
I think they thought they could just spend a bunch of money on hardware and they would be supporting DSL.
Hardware is only one side of the equation. The providers are completely over their heads regarding the other aspects of the service.

I looked at DSL first, but I would have had to get it through my phone company, Qwest.

Qwest has worse service than @Home. Scary, but true. I once called in for trouble with my bill (on a Tuesday), and after navigating the maze of touchtone menus, I hit a recording that said "We are currently experiencing a high volume of calls. Please call back on Thursday or Friday." And then they HUNG UP on me.

And to top it off, they are making all of their DSL customers switch to MSN. No thank you.

ROFL

Wombat,

Your situation is EXACTLY like mine!

If you want, I can tell you how the story ends:
• You will call a few more times and maybe have a slight stroke over the fact that you can't get anything done.
• You will then resign yourself to the fact that @Home is full of idiots and morons.
• You will wait for the tech guy to show up (side note: see my part of the story about the tech stiffing me the first time. He just plain didn't show up for an appointment that was set between 9 am and 6 pm. I waited ALL DAY and we ended up having to reschedule for 2 weeks later!).
• Once the tech shows up he will tell you how he thinks it is BS that you have to call him out for this.
• The tech will call, read the numbers, wait for the lights to come on and leave.

I am sorry that I find this so humorous. I can honestly say I know what you are going through.

edit: The reason I haven't been able to post lately has something to do with the @Home network. I sent an e-mail to Ant to see if he could help and he replied saying "I'm afraid this has been something just effecting athome users like yourself"
LOL.

I can't get on the boards to complain about how @Home sucks because @Home sucks. Now that's what I call irony!

eYUP....

Went through MURC withdrawls this weekend because some server was down. I think Rags has more info and fired off a few nasty grams to @home.

Hey Jorden you used to work at BestBuy right!!

Paul is correct. I am going to be writing up nice little essay about the current state of athome service, anyone who has a beef, leave a long and detailed explanation of what happened. For anyone who has already spoken about it, post here to add anything you want written and please give me your permission to use what you have written here.

LOL........

At 39 cents/share I think we MURCers should pool our allowances and buy @home out.

FEDs investigate MURC for a hostile takeover of @Home.....LOL

Sorry Paul, I never worked there

Sony yes, and maybe again in the near future, but in the mean time I am just waiting for my Dutch KPN person to ring my doorbell, give me a package and install everything MYSELF !! (including the RJ-11 connectors )

At least then we all know if something went wrong it might've been my fault

Rags,

Where do you intend to send this letter? When I was going through all of this I was calling and e-mailing EVERYONE I could think of. I never even got a response from any of them.

I hope you get our story to the guys that matter over there, but from what I could gather they could not possibly care less. It's either that or they really are so screwed up that they are beyond repair.
