Damn.

They should have used 'The Clone War' as referenced in canonical Star Wars fictions. (BTW, I love Tim Zahn's trilogy!)

I will probably have to have something strong in me before i see this movie!
And then I will need a lot of the stronger stuff afterwards!

Yeah even Obi Wan made mention of the Clone Wars in the original Star Wars movie when he first met Luke.

I'm not much for the title, but at least George got script writting help this time around. In addition there are no kids in this one, so hopefully no more, "yippie" and "yahoo" and all that other stuff that doesn't belong in a Star Wars movie...at leat that's what I think.

Does anyone have 'The Phantom Edit'? The re-edit of The Phantom Menance???

Anyone?

Unfortunately, I hear Jar-Jar is still around. I just hope they don't clone him, too.

Although I once read an interesting piece about how Jar-Jar might be an incredible Jedi. They talk about how all the things that the Force helps with: amazing "luck", things just work out, etc.
Think about Jar-Jar in episode 1: Finding a couple of Jedi to save him, the big fish eaten by a bigger fish (could be the Force of the actual Jedi), or that battle scene, where Jar-Jar fights off a bunch of droids while panicking, or when he lets those glowballs loose.

Fun to think about, even if it is off-the-wall.

heh, Darkside Jar-Jar: " &lt growl &gt Yousa gonna die..."

The Zahn books are great, they should really make a movie of the 3 book cycle.

I doubt it....

Unless Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher all agreed to do the Zahn series AND that they can pull it off (Leia was suppose to give birth to TWINS), I doubt George Lucas would go for it....

There was a rumor floating around that George said if he ever did the next cycle it would be completely animated. Either CG or a traditional/CG mix. It's a rumor. That way they could still use all the familiar voices, without the old actors trying to do lightsaber battles.

I agree, James. If I actually had a vote in the matter I would vote for "The Clone Wars."

George just can't help himself fvcking up his own original work, either. It saddens me to think that now we may never again see the original Star Wars without all the digital crapola he stuck in to the Mos Eisley scene. I absolutely HATE what he did there. It ruins the whole film now. I loved the sparsely populated desert town look it had before. Now the street is jam packed with digital monsters, and the idiotic, laughable scene with Jabba the Hutt in the hangar adds nothing but doubt to my opinion of Lucas' genius. The first two films, AS MADE, were by far the best, im my opinion, with The Empire Strikes Back as being really, truly, the best of them all. I would rather watch Jim Henson chum Frank Oz as Yoda than see Yoda computer generated. Indeed, there was a lot more personality there in the puppet Yoda than Jar Jar ever had.

Watching the extra feature on the making of "Labyrinth" on the DVD was fascinating. It made me kinda sad, though. To think that these techniques of puppetry will probably not be used again, when there was so much art in them. Today it would all be computer-generated. Too bad. A computer has really proven a poor substitute for Jim Henson, God rest his soul.

I have the Labyrinth DVD too..

I don't think puppets will go away any time soon. I can't think of any that are completely manual at the moment, but there are still plenty of creatures out there (I wanted to work in a creature shop when I was little). Although I haven't seen it, JurASSic Park III has a couple huge dinobots (hehe) in there. Also, A.I. has Teddy, who had like 15 different setups depending on the scene (were some non-servo? I don't know).

Oh yeah, lets wait for part three: "RETURN OF THE KILLER CLONES"

i actually hoped the second part would be better than episode 1 (i still do )

Now, now people, let's not get too hyped up about the name. Yes it is corny, but if you read the press release Geaorge said:

It harkens back to the sense of pure fun, imagination and excitement that characterized the classic movie serials and pulp space fantasy adventures that inspired the Star Wars saga.
I'm withholding all judgement about the name until I see the movie. If the movie is good, I won't mind the title, because in the end it's still a Star Wars movie.

Of course, the new title reminds me of the old Star Wars internet spoof, Quinten Terintino's Star Wars
