• Wow!

I just watched Pete Sampras and Andre Aggasi play in the quarter finals at the US Open. What a fricken awesome game. 4 tie breakers in a row only to be stopped by Sampras's amazing playing abilities. In the top 5 best games I've ever seen.
If anyone else here likes tennis like I do, you may recall in the middle 90's when Pete Sampras played ain a finals match with the flu. He was puking every third game and he was visibly about ready to breakdown. He ended up winning. He is a true champion. The main reason he is a true champion because he is very respectful and understands the importance of respect and kindness(no, not our kindness )

I like tennis, but liked it a LOT when McEnroe was playing and doing well.

Now talk about a good attitude

Tennis? Pah!

You should have watched the England vs Germany soccer match last Saturday.
It was just a little bit of a good game.

Well, unless you were German.

Three goals from Owen, Germans disbelieveing,
Five - one was the score, and their fans were fleeing..

PS - Commiserations to the Scots and Northern Irish (again). We'll send you a postcard from the finals!

England - Germany was a good match indeed.... almost the opposite of the match Ireland - The Netherlands earlier that evening... the Dutch played piss-poor, and the match was incredibly boring

those brits really shaved some heads ...

unfortunately I didn't see the game, but I heard it was a real lesson for the german team, which is sort of tragic, since they had some nice matches very recently.

and Dave,

I'm not much interested in tennis, only every once in a while, but I 100% agree to your comment about being a real champion !

Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...

Sorry, not into soccer too much so I can't comment other than the fact that I get to see the riots that occur on a regular basis

You are kidding right? You must be, because you mentioned in an earlier post that if you were serious you'd type alot

What amazes me is that at almost every foreign soccer match there is usually a riot after the game with people getting hurt or killed but I don't remember there every being a riot at an American Football (NFL) game with people getting hurt or killed.

Must be a cultural thing.

You've never been do a Raider game have you? I speak from personal exp[erience when i tell you that someone always gets hurt at a Raider game(usually a fan from the other team). It may not be a riot but tere doesn't need to be one.

I guess that view is only a result of the really starnge habits of the yellow press, because there are so many international matches that are just peacefull, but those never make there way into inerantional press, do they ?

The problem are those matches were something completely goes wrong, like the masses panicking and thus causing injuries and what not.

Cheers,
Maggi

Guru if you watch television watch serie A and watch constant rain of bottles onto the person taking the corner kick. Or go away to Galtaseray and stand in the wrong end. Yes we've still got a problem with hooligans but so have other countries so to be fair they should be banned as well.
In England if one fan runs on the pitch the press report that being a riot. It sells papers saying every one behaved themselfs doesn't. I've been going to football matches for years now and I've seen one fight between a fat girl and startled away supporter.
Now back to the orginal subject. The best tennis matches I've seen were the McEnroe and Borg Wimbledon finals classics both of them.
